Thanks for all your early questions today, guys. Lots of trade-related stuff to sort through. I'll get underway in a sec here...

Will the injury to Joe Ingles affect him getting trade? When is a deal going to happen? If no one wants Ingles who do the Jazz trade?
Luke Adams
12:04
I actually think Ingles' injury makes him more likely to be traded. Before the injury, the Jazz would have to consider how much of an upgrade any player they targeted would actually be over Ingles. For instance, would they have attached a first-round pick to Ingles in an offer for Robert Covington, or would they have viewed that as too marginal an upgrade to give up a first-rounder for? That equation becomes a lot simpler to evaluate if you know you're not getting anything from Ingles the rest of the way.

More Buyers than Sellers this year, right?  Seems like the addition of the Play-in Tournament has ruined the Trade deadline.  Teams will have to overpay since there are fewer Sellers now than before.
Luke Adams
12:05
You're right about the play-in tournament creating more buyers, but I wouldn't say it's ruined the deadline. It's made things more challenging for buyers and more advantageous for sellers. That's not such a bad thing -- it might make for more competitive balance from year to year.

What kind of package could you see happening in a Goran Dragic trade
Luke Adams
12:07
I don't think the Raptors can get much for Dragic by himself unless they're willing to take on a similar contract that includes money beyond this season (like Eric Bledsoe's). Maybe if they attach a draft pick and a young player (Achiuwa or Flynn) to Dragic, they could get a solid player. But I don't think Dragic's contract will be easy to move -- it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up just being bought out.
Free Robin Lopez
12:08
Shouldn't the Orlando Magic move Robin Lopez now for a 2nd Roiund pick?  Isn't that better than Losing him for nothing? They still have Wendell Carter and Mo Bamba to man the Center spot.
Luke Adams
12:09
If they can get a second-round pick for him, sure. I think the Magic will be happy to approach this year's deadline like they did last year's, swapping veterans for draft picks. But the players they're shopping this time around (Ross, Harris, Lopez) aren't nearly as valuable.

what are the odds I’m playing in NOLA or anywhere outside Rip City post Feb 10?
Luke Adams
12:11
I think the Pelicans make a lot of sense, but after the way the Blazers have held onto you for years and years, it would be a bit jarring if you're suddenly moved in a midseason deal. I'd put the odds around 25-30% -- it still feels to me like an offseason move is likelier.
Trades
12:11
Why do teams wait so long to make in-season trades? I know the Dec. 15 deadline when most offseason signees become trade eligible plays a part, but you rarely see big trades in December or even January. They usually come right around the deadline. I get that front offices are risk averse and want to wait to evaluate their teams, but if you know things aren't working or chemistry is off and your team is struggling, why wait until 50+ games have already been played? It seems like there's a lot of situations where it'd be more beneficial to switch things up earlier when you might have a chance to change the tide of the season and get players acclimated, where waiting until the deadline often feels like a trade for next season with only a couple months of the season remaining.
Luke Adams
12:12
I'm sure more buyers would be happier to move earlier. But the sellers often don't lower their asking prices until the last few days leading up to the deadline, so getting a player a month early often isn't worth giving up significantly more to do so.

Anybody want me?
Luke Adams
12:14
I debated whether to discuss you at all in my trade deadline preview for the Knicks today. The odds you're moved are definitely non-zero, but I think they're pretty slim -- Leon Rose just doesn't seem like to sell so low. Things would have to be REALLY bad behind the scenes.
Serge Ibaka
12:14
Does a reunion with Toronto make sense? Probably wouldn't cost much asset wise and would give the Raptors a rim protecting center.
Luke Adams
12:16
You wouldn't be getting the Ibaka of 2018/19 if you traded for him today. His back issues have sapped him of some of his effectiveness. The Raptors can do better if they're willing to give up a draft pick or two. On the other hand, if they think Ibaka is still a worthwhile investment, I bet they could get an asset as part of the deal, since the Clippers would mostly view him as a salary dump.

Am I a difference maker in the 2021-22 playoff campaign as the Dubs make another run at the title?
Luke Adams
12:18
It doesn't seem like Steve Kerr trusts you quite enough yet to give you much of a role, especially once Green and Wiseman are ready to play. But you're certainly a wild card -- I could see you having a real impact in at least one game of a seven-game series.

12:19
Any chance my Dad's Cavs can get either Dejounte Murray or Brandon Ingram?
Luke Adams
12:20
I doubt either of those guys are on the table. The Pelicans want to make the playoffs, not sell off their leading scorer. And the Spurs never make major in-season trades -- I can't imagine them moving their best player either.
Frank
12:20
Utah NEEDS to make a move with the Ingles injury. Can you see them flipping Ingles, Bogdanovich and a First round pick for Harrison Barnes and Buddy Hield?
Luke Adams
12:21
I don't see the Kings making any deals that make this year's team noticeably worse. That 10th play-in spot is still within reach for them and they're desperate to snap their playoff streak.

Thoughts on what would be a good trade option for the Grizzlies to have an even better shot for the finals.
Luke Adams
12:24
They should be willing to move a first-round pick or even two -- they'll probably control three in this year's draft. I like the idea of them making a play for a strong defensive forward like Jerami Grant or Robert Covington. It wouldn't surprise me if they stand pat though, and take a bigger wing in the offseason once they know which draft picks they'll have and where exactly they'll land.

12:24
What can the Pelicans reasonably expect to do with the huge trade exception from the Adams deal?
Luke Adams
12:27
They're one of the few teams that can actually afford to take on a mid-level type salary without sending out any salary and without going into the tax, which makes them an intriguing trade partner for a lot of teams. It's hard for me to shake the CJ McCollum concept, since it makes so much sense (they could easily help the Blazers get out of the tax), but if they shift their focus elsewhere, I like the idea of them going after Derrick White or maybe Dennis Schroder.
Who says no
12:27
Rubio and a second-round pick for Dragic seems like a pretty easy trade from both sides. The Raptors avoid a buyout and gain a pick, the Cavs get a veteran who's had some playoff success and can play on or off the ball next to Garland. I suppose Gary Harris could fit in decently too, but Dragic is better at creating shots for himself and others. Gordon would cost too much in assets and money next season, LeVert is alright but isn't much of a shooter and might mess up team chemistry because he's a ball hog.
Luke Adams
12:29
I suspect the Cavs will aim higher with Rubio's expiring contract. If they're willing to attach a first-rounder (and it sounds like they are), they can probably do better than Dragic. I understand the concerns about fit with some of the other potential targets, but Dragic has barely played this season -- we don't really know what version of him we'll see once he returns.
Play-In Tournament
12:29
Do you consider that 'making the playoffs'? I don't. Gotta be at least a series to be thought of as such in my opinion.
Luke Adams
12:30
I don't, no. But getting into the 9/10 game would at least give the Kings (or any other team) a CHANCE to make the "official" playoffs, which I think they'd eagerly take at this point.
Black Ace57
12:30
Why would the Knicks trade a first for Reddish to then barely play him? Is this going to cause problems between the front office and Thibs?
Luke Adams
12:31
I expect the Knicks to make another move or two to free up more minutes for Reddish. Even if he doesn't play a ton this year though, he's under contract for another season -- he'd have more of an opportunity to earn minutes once he has a full summer/training camp with the team under his belt.

Are the bulls looking into moving Coby White? I think they have more backcourt talent than they need and could use white to get a 3 and D guy to come off the bench. White has 6th man of the year talent offensively but is a defensive liability and with Lavine there you can afford to have 2 guys like that
Luke Adams
12:33
If you'd asked me a month or two ago, I would've said White was maybe the most likely Bull to be moved. I'm not so sure now -- he's proven pretty valuable amidst all the backcourt injuries. They can't really afford to trade him.

Will Jerami Grant, Domantas Sabonis get traded?
Luke Adams
12:34
I'd put the odds of a Grant deal at about 65%. Sabonis... maybe 20%. I'm a little skeptical the Pacers will turn over their roster as much as earlier reports may have suggested.
General Manager Hot Seat
12:34
Any GM's specifically on the hot seat as the deadline approaches? Kings GM comes to mind but anyone else out there in your opinion?
Luke Adams
12:36
Kevin Pritchard (Pacers) is under some pressure. Tommy Sheppard (Wizards) too. David Griffin (Pelicans) for sure. Rob Pelinka (Lakers) should be under just as much scrutiny as Frank Vogel, though I don't get the impression he is. We also don't know yet whether Joe Cronin (Blazers) and Sachin Gupta (Wolves) will keep their jobs permanently, so they're probably feeling some pressure.

If Simmons-Harden does go through over the summer, what is the chances the league cancels it due to tampering?
