Will Detroit trade Grant this offseason
Dana Gauruder
11:04
Very much depends on 2 factors -- how they fare in the draft lottery, plus extension talks. Right now, 4 of the top 5 prospects in draft are forwards. If the Pistons can at least stay in the top 5, they can draft one of those guys, which would make it more sensible to deal Grant. The other thing is that Grant is eligible for an extension and from all indications, he's content in Detroit. If an extension agreement is reached, then obviously Grant's stay there will continue into next season. Perhaps in that scenario you could see Grant, Bey and the high draft pick sharing the minutes at the forward spots.

Who says no?  Lakers get Zach Lavine, 3rd team gets Westbrook, Bulls get 3rd teams overpaid trash?
Dana Gauruder
11:07
I guess the Lakers would benefit greatly from that -- don't see how it benefits anyone else. The only way they can acquire him is through sign-and-trade if LaVine really wanted to go there. But the Bulls have no incentive to accommodate him unless they get significant compensation that can help them win next season and beyond.

In your opinion do you think the Jazz will do a complete demolition of the roster?
Dana Gauruder
11:12
They're in a tough spot. They're kind of spinning their wheels with the roster they have -- good, but not good enough to get to the Finals. Their salary cap situation for next 2 seasons is not good -- overloaded with big contracts. The most likely scenario to shake things up would be to deal either Gobert or Mitchell but both of them are signed through 2025-26. Mitchell would probably be the more attractive of the two on the trade market but how do you replace his offense? And if someone's willing to trade for Gobert, then your already questionable defense suffers. So, it won't be easy to blow up the roster.

Terry stotts is the betting favorite right now for the Lakers job. Do you see the Lakers hiring him or are their better options than him?
Dana Gauruder
11:14
Stotts is a solid coach and highly respected around the league. Kenny Atkinson would also be a good choice -- I thought he got a raw deal with the Nets. But the roster changes they make are more important than the coaching hire.

If we Win game 6 in San Francisco, I am confident we will Win game 7 in Memphis.  The Warriors collapsed in a similar manner in the 2016 NBA Finals and we are seeing similar trends the past few games.

11:18
Wow, you've got a lot of confidence in your team. The Grizzlies surprised a lot of people last night but winning twice more, probably with Morant sidelined, is a tall task vs. a team with 3 starters who have won multiple championships. The Grizzlies will at the very least go back to Golden State's court with plenty of confidence.

Safe to say that james wiseman currently has no trade value?
Dana Gauruder
11:23
I wouldn't say that at all. It was just a lost season for him with the knee injury. There was still a reason why the Warriors drafted him No. 2 overall and many other franchises would have done the same. Remember, Embiid's first couple of seasons were a wash. Not saying that Wiseman will ever reach Embiid's level but he certainly has intriguing talent. That being said, I don't think the Warriors will move him. I think they're invested in his development.

Will Barton for Matisse Thybulle and Danny Green. Seems to benefit both teams, no?
Dana Gauruder
11:29
Not sure how much that moves the needle for either side in terms of getting deeper into the postseason. First thing, though, would be the Sixers guaranteeing Green's contract for next season. His $10 mill is non-guaranteed and they could simply open up that salary slot. I would think Sixers' interest in a player like Barton would also be predicated on what they do with Harden/Harris this offseason.

Will the nets be able to keep both Claxton and Brown in FA? If they have to choose, who is the more valuable player moving forward?
Dana Gauruder
11:34
Both an unrestricted free agents, so a lot depends on the market for both players. They only have the $6.3 mill taxpayer exception available and I doubt they can divvy that up and get them both back. Brown is a better player, in my opinion, but he's essentially be an insurance policy at the wing if Simmons finally starts playing regularly. The Nets are severely lacking in young, athletic bigs, so given the composition of their roster they'd probably lean toward bringing back Claxton.

Wall & Wood & #17pick for Gobert & Conley....who says no....thanks
Dana Gauruder
11:41
I don't know if the Rockets would want to take on a contract like Gobert's, given that they're building around youth (Green, Porter, Sengun). If you add Conley, you're taking minutes away from that young backcourt, though he could play a mentoring-type role. Wall and Wood have expiring contracts, so that would help the Jazz down the road. Overall, would be an interesting trade, though the Rockets would have to alter their approach of building around youngsters.

Say the Thunder get two top-4 picks; what do they do with them??
Dana Gauruder
11:48
That's a real longshot, considering they're sitting in the fourth spot and the Clippers' pick they're getting has about a 93 percent chance of being 12th or higher. But in the unlikely scenario they'd get 2 top 5 selections, they'd be in a great spot to package them for the top pick if they're not at the No. 1 spot. They could take one of those forward prospects, then deal the other pick to another team looking to move up. But the odds a very, very slim that scenario will play out.

where might I end up if I don't stay in Toronto?
Dana Gauruder
11:53
As an unrestricted free agent, there are any number of landing spots for a team looking to add another frontcourt rotation player. There's speculation that Boucher is planning to re-sign with the Raptors and that's the most likely scenario.

Who would Mike Brown bring to his coaching staff, any chance for Vogel or Ryan Saunders?
Dana Gauruder
11:55
Not sure what type of coaching relationships Brown has with Vogel and Saunders but it's fair to assume he'll have another experienced hand, perhaps a former head coach, as his top assistant. Saunders has said he'd like to get back into the league next season and that might be a good landing spot for him. Not sure what Vogel plans to do. Often, veteran coaches who get fired take a year off to recharge their batteries, then jump back into the fray.

The Cavis have Collin Sexton and Caris LeVert both on the last year of their contracts. What should they do: extend them both; extend neither; trade one (which one?).
Dana Gauruder
12:01
LeVert is entering the last year of his deal. Sexton will head into the free agency this summer -- if the Cavs extend him a qualifying offer, he'll be a restricted free agent and they can match any offer. I think they'll keep LeVert -- I believe they traded for him with the intent of keeping him multiple seasons. Sexton is a different case, due to the knee injury and Garland's development. If there's a team that really covets Sexton and believes he'll fully recover, I don't think Cleveland will match a large offer sheet. They've got to consider the long-term extensions they'll eventually look at to retain Garland and Mobley.
