Lots of questions, of course, on draft night. I will try to get to as many as I can over the next hour.

ignoring the rumours of Houston trading up to #1 with Orlando which looks to be speculation(unlikely if they’re high on Banchero). What are the odds they look to trade #17,#26 and asset to get another high lottery pick tonight?
Dana Gauruder
11:03
I think you'll see some moments with the latter two picks. Realize the Mavs technically are making that No. 26 pick because Wood deal isn't official yet. I don't see Orlando trading out of the top spot. However, Fertitta indicated they wouldn't stand pat with those other picks, whether they move up in draft or swap one of them out for a future asset.

Will the jazz trade Rudy gobert today
Dana Gauruder
11:05
I don't think trading Gobert is predicated on what goes on in the draft, considering Utah doesn't have a first-rounder. The Jazz might acquire a second-round pick in a smaller deal. A Gobert deal could happen at any time in the coming days or weeks -- if it happens.

How much would the hawks have to give up for dejounte?
Dana Gauruder
11:09
That one really surprised. The Spurs would really be going into an even deeper rebuild. The cost for the Hawks would be significant. You'd figure they'd have to give up multiple first-rounders to make that happen. Collins would also likely go in that deal, if the Hawks are willing to pull the trigger. Basically, the Hawks would have to decide whether they'd want to take the long term hit in the draft in order to pair up Murray with Young.

So let’s say the rockets get banchero. How long til they make the playoffs
Dana Gauruder
11:12
A couple of years at least, I'd say. They'd have a nice young core with Banchero, Green, Porter, Sengun, etc. but it's really tough to leapfrog established playoff teams. Look at how long it took Wolves to sneak into the playoffs with KAT.

Would the 11th pick, Julies Randle, 2023 Dallas pick, Quintin Grimes and/or Immanuel Quickly get the Knicks the 4th pick and Harrison Barnes
Dana Gauruder
11:15
I guess we'll find out tonight! The only way I think that works for Sacramento is if they feel Randle-Sabonis pairing would work. The Kings would also create a hole at SF by doing that. So, I doubt they'd go for that but the Kings have a long-standing rep of making odd moves. As for Knicks, more likely they pursue a seasoned point man in free agency or trade.

Why haven't we heard more about NOLA as a suitor for #4 overall? This is a ready made team in need of a PG with assets like Murphy, Nance, and LAL 24 FRP
Dana Gauruder
11:19
Sacramento is intent on being a playoff team. The Kings' GM hasn't gotten a contract extension, so he's in a win-now mode. I don't see Kings trying to accumulate assets -- they're looking for an established piece to finally end their playoff drought. However, New Orleans is in an awfully good spot to get a vet point guard -- doesn't have to be star quality. Zion playing regularly is their biggest need, truly. If he can stay on the court, they can become a championship level team.
76ers
11:20
When are they going to realize that Harden isnt worth what he is asking for?
Dana Gauruder
11:22
My impression when they made the trade is that there was a gentleman's agreement Harden would be retained and get some sort of extension. From all indications, he's going to opt it to that $47 mill for next season. So, I think the Sixers are committed to having him around for at least a couple more seasons.
Front court depth
11:23
The Bulls desperately must add front court depth, and everyone thinks they should get some in the draft, but because they cannot miss on front court depth, should they draft a guard and then use their cap room to add track record front court players? I like Jalen Williams and TyTy Washington in that spot and next to Ayo in the future
Dana Gauruder
11:26
The Bulls don't pick until No. 18, so they're not going to get an impact player for next season at that spot. They've also made some serious salary commitments to backcourt players over the past year (Ball, Caruso). A lot is predicated on whether Zach re-signs, plus what they want to do with Vuc. Truly, we didn't see how the current roster would mesh because of all the injuries -- Williams, Ball, Caruso, etc. I think if they ran it back with the current group, they can be conference contenders. Everything just kind of revolves on LaVine's situation.

What's Mr. Weaver got up his sleeve for us Piston fans tonight? Straight draft , trading some picks to move up and get 2nd first or really taking back crap contract for picks? Thoughts? Much appreciated!
Dana Gauruder
11:31
Considering that Weaver has blown up an entire roster in a short period of time, you can expect some sort of movement. I don't think they'll trade  out of the No. 5 spot unless they get an overwhelming offer. There's been some talk they might try to move into the lower half of the first round if there's a player there that they covet. The bigger moves, I believe, are down the road -- like a week from now when free agency begins. Is Ayton their true top target? Or do they covet Brunson or Bridges more? The thing about Ayton is he's RFA -- trading Grant gave away an asset they could have used in a sign and trade. Brunson's situation is different because he's unrestricted, though it may tough to out-bid Dallas.

What would it take to get MA legend Pat Connaughton on the Celtics?
Dana Gauruder
11:33
Connaughton has decided to opt in and take the guaranteed money but his contract is reasonable -- less than $6 mill. Milwaukee has luxury tax concerns but would probably want some sort of draft asset for him. I also don't know if the Bucks would want to deal with a team that's one of their main rivals in the East.

Please remind me how many 1st round picks we have in this draft
Dana Gauruder
11:34
I believe the current count is still at 3 but you never know if Presti wants to get another.
Nets fan
11:35
Nets lineup Simmons Curry Harris Durant and Claxton/Drummond. Sign and trade Irving for some decent bench players
Dana Gauruder
11:37
That will only work if Irving actually wants to go elsewhere and there's a team out there willing to take on Kyrie and all the usual drama that comes with him. You'd also think Durant would have to sign off in some fashion on getting rid of the team's other star.

Given the number of "rumors" involving OG Anunoby, I'm half convinced the Raptors will make a deal...using Trent Jr.  What's your take?
Dana Gauruder
11:41
As I see it, the Raptors would need a significant package to part with OG. They've got a good core in Siakam, FVV and Barnes. If you deal Trent and/or OG, you'd better get a high quality starter in return.
Draft timing
11:42
What is thinking behind having the Draft before Free Agency starts?  How about having the Draft a month after Free Agency starts?  I'm surprised the Players Association allows this to happen, knowing that Teams can replace Free Agents in the Draft and then tell them " we have your Replacement, good luck out on the Market ...... "
Dana Gauruder
11:45
Tradition more than anything. There was talk about doing that in the past but I don't think it's enough of a hot-button issue. The league seems more interested in an in-season tournament than opening free agency earlier. I do agree with you that it would make more sense to conduct free agency ahead of the draft and then fill remaining needs with rookies.

What do you think the Nuggets will do today?
Dana Gauruder
11:49
I don't necessarily think the Nuggets have to make a move today but they probably will. I don't see how 2 late first-rounders moves the needle for them to take the next step. One of the picks will likely be deal. They seem pretty intent on upgrading their defense at the wing. There's been a lot of talk of Monte Morris getting traded in the near future. So I do expect the Nuggets to be active tonight.

Does Portland trade down or out of 7? If so do they acquire dort or a proven player to pair with Dame.!
Dana Gauruder
11:51
I still think that pick is in play, even though they held onto it in the Grant deal. Just a matter of whether there's a sense of desperation on the part of a team looking to move up in the lottery.

Why would the Pacers consider a Myles Turner deal for Gordan Hayward?  Hayward much older & always hurt
Dana Gauruder
11:54
Hayward is kind of a viewed now as a "salary-dump" player because of the injuries. The Hornets are expected to attach assets to shed his contract. That would be the incentive for the Pacers, who appear to have chosen the long-term rebuild path.

11:55
How high could Sharpe go tonight? Reading a lot of teams are interested and wondering if anyone may trade up.
Dana Gauruder
11:57
Perhaps six. I don't think he sneaks into the top 5, but I also don't think he'll slip out of the top 10. Seems to be an extremely confident guy, maybe a little too confident for some teams. But even though he didn't play this past college season, there were some experts raving about his ability. I'd say he'll go anywhere from 6-9 and yes, there could be a team out there that covets him enough to trade with the Pacers or Blazers to snare him.

WHO WOULD FIT BETTER IN DETROIT, IVEY OR MURRY
Dana Gauruder
11:59
They'd both be quality choices. You get the dynamic young backcourt if Ivey's there -- though I think he'll be drafted at No. 4, whether the Kings keep the pick or deal it. Murray is a ready-made NBA player who is not only a prolific scorer but solid defender. I'd prefer Murray because of his steady play but Ivey's going to be a heck of a pro, too.
PJ Tucker
11:59
Why are Teams falling over themselves to Sign forward PJ Tucker?  The guy only Shoots corner 3-point shots.  He has NO ability to put the ball on the floor and drive it to the hoop.  He's an aging 3-and-sometimes-D man.  I don't get it.
