Luke Adams
12:00
Lots of early questions today, thanks guys! I'll get through as many as I can in the next hour or so.
Mitchell Robinson
12:01
Who am I going to sign with this off-season?
Luke Adams
12:01
I'll say the Pistons, though I think there are a few spots that make some sense.
Quin Snyder
12:02
What's my next move? This late in the offseason for coaching hires, will I just sit out for a yr or so?
Luke Adams
12:03
Yeah, I don't get the sense you'll be clamoring for the Hornets' job, and I don't see you leaving the Jazz for an assistant role. A year off makes sense -- there will probably be some intriguing new openings in 2023.
Austin
12:03
Myles Turner or Mo Bamba? Most likely to play for the Mavs next year?
Luke Adams
12:04
I'd rather have Turner than Bamba, if that's the first question. In terms of who's more likely to play for Dallas, it has to be Bamba -- he'll be a free agent and I don't see the Magic hanging onto him if they bring in another PF/C with the No. 1 pick. Turner feels more likely to stay in Indiana after the Sabonis trade.

Are there realistic pathways for the Bulls to acquire Ayton or Gobert with Vuc as a centerpiece?  If the Bulls can't land either, does it make sense to trade Vuc anyways? (Giving him the next contract would scare me, but as an over the cap team, letting him walk next offseason wouldn't really open up much usuable money, while a S&T wouldn't net much).
Luke Adams
12:07
I think the Jazz would have to think long and hard about an offer for Gobert that includes Vucevic, Patrick Williams, and a draft pick. Whether the Bulls are willing to give up that much is another story. Ayton is a long-shot target for Chicago (cap complications would make a sign-and-trade tricky). If they can't get a meaningful upgrade using Vucevic as a trade chip, I'd keep him. You could always shop him at the 2023 trade deadline if he's not part of the long-term plans.

SnT Christian Wood & Eric Gordon to PHX for Ayton. Then drafting PB @ 3 leaves room to believe Houston can fight for the playin, right? HOU was terrible defensively in the paint and adding PB will not solve it, but adding a premium defensive 5 in Ayton should work wonders for the team.

12:08
Kings are looking for an impact veteran. Ayton for 4th pick and Richuan Holmes? Who says no?
SnT
12:08
Would a Miles Bridges for Deandre Ayton sign-and-trade be viable (if it's allowed)? Let's say Ayton gets a max and Bridges gets something like John Collins at 5-125. Would be hilarious to have Miles and Mikal on the same team and I actually think it makes sense fit-wise too.
Luke Adams
12:10
Lots of questions about possible Ayton sign-and-trades, and a lot of the proposed scenarios have the same problem: Because he'll be a base year compensation player, Ayton would count for about $15MM in outgoing salary and $30MM in incoming salary, which makes salary-matching a challenge for over-the-cap teams. I think that's why teams like the Spurs and Pistons have been connected to him most often: They have enough cap flexibility that they'd only have to send out a little salary to fit him under the cap.
12:11
(For what it's worth, none of those three hypothetical Ayton deals involving the Rockets, Kings, and Hornets would meet salary-matching rules, and it'd be tricky to close the gap).
OG Anunoby
12:11
Do you believe I’m still a Raptor next year?
Luke Adams
12:13
Yes. The Anunoby rumors remind me of the Siakam ones a year ago. They seem to be coming from teams hoping to acquire a valuable player coming off a down year, rather than from the Raptors themselves. If Anunoby moves, it's not just gonna be a mid first-rounder and salary filler. He'd cost a lot.
Cleveland
12:14
What would an ideal offseason for the Cavs look like in your opinion? Should they re-sign Sexton if he's less than $20MM per? Extend LeVert? Draft targets? Curious to see what you think.
Luke Adams
12:16
As long as no one else goes crazy for Sexton, I think the Cavs should be able to get him at a pretty fair rate. Maybe something like 4/$70MM. If they can do that, I'd hold off on a LeVert extension for now. The No. 14 pick should be interesting -- the Cavs need wing/forward help and it seems like there should be some solid options available there. I like Malaki Branham or Tari Eason for them.
Nuggets
12:16
How do we improve the team? Even if Murray and MPJ are 100% next season, we still have some big weaknesses on wing d and paint protection. Bringing back Gary Harris might not be bad, but what else could we do to shore up the D?
Luke Adams
12:18
I expect at least one of Monte Morris or Will Barton, if not both, to be shopped this offseason. It also wouldn't shock me if the Nuggets use their first-round pick in a trade rather than bringing in another rookie. I'm hoping to get our Nuggets offseason preview published by the end of the day, so I'll dig into it in more detail there.
Offensive Fowl
12:18
RWIII and D. White for Gobert, yes for both sides?
Luke Adams
12:19
The Celtics are three wins away from a title. Even if they don't win it, I don't see them doing anything that drastic with their roster this offseason.

Hoops Rumors feature suggestion: take your writing staff and have them mock an expansion draft for 2 new teams. You could be one of the draftees or with all your cap knowledge, the moderator of the exercise. It would be a fun read!
Luke Adams
12:21
I love the idea of a mock expansion draft, though I expect we'll probably wait until expansion becomes more of a reality to actually do one -- I'd want to know the NBA's official rules for player protection rather than just making up our own.
Malcolm Brogdon
12:21
Which team should pursue me this summer?
Luke Adams
12:22
There are a lot that would make sense! Every time I look at a team with an offense-first, ball-dominant guard and consider who would be a good fit next to them in the backcourt, you're one of the first guys I think of. Atlanta and Washington are two teams that immediately come to mind.
Steve
12:22
If the Suns do a sign and trade with DeAndre Ayton for Jeremi Grant, would they have enough money to sign RFA Mo Bamba from the Magic?
Luke Adams
12:23
If Bamba's available for the mid-level, sure. And I think that's realistic.

Jerami to the blazers for 7 and Hart seems like it would work for both sides?
Luke Adams
12:24
I like it a lot more for Detroit than Portland!

12:24
What’s your prediction at 4?? Sac picks Keegan Murray as the most ready to immediately contribute to winning in a role that they will get there is my guess
Luke Adams
12:25
Keegan Murray is my favorite fit for Sacramento, yeah. I think we'll get a lot of rumors about that pick in the next couple weeks though. If there's a team that loves Jaden Ivey, the Kings could potentially get pretty good value for it.

What's a reasonable rookie extension for Keldon Johnson? Had an under the radar year, 17/6 on solid percentages. 4/72 (Anunoby)-4/90 (Bridges) range? Still only 22.
Luke Adams
12:28
If the Spurs can get him to agree to Anunoby money, they should jump on it. Even 4/$80MM would be reasonable. The Bridges numbers work in the Spurs' favor -- Bridges is the better all-around player, so they can point to that deal and argue that Johnson shouldn't be getting as much as 4/$90MM.
Santana
12:28
Are the rumors of Orlando drafting Jabari Smith #1 real? I think they draft the safe player in Paolo.
Luke Adams
12:29
Hard to know what's real and what's not at this point, but the Magic front office never seems all that inclined to play it safe. If they pass on Smith, I bet it'll be to take Holmgren.

Herro getting and max and staying in Miami? All I hear is how Riley loves Herro...thoughts?
Luke Adams
12:32
I was intrigued by the comments Riley made yesterday when he was asked about Herro potentially entering the starting lineup and he talked about the need for players to contribute on both sides of the ball. Herro's not a great defender, so when he's struggling offensively - as he often did in this year's playoffs - he's not bringing much to the table besides floor spacing. I wouldn't be shocked if we hear Herro's name in some trade rumors this offseason, since he's one of the few assets the Heat could dangle in an offer for another impact player.

How long before Embiid is asking out? He can't be happy with the way things have played out the last few years, regardless of what he says or how he acts.
Luke Adams
12:34
I think we're still a ways from getting to that point. Let's see how things go with a full season of Harden first. As I've said in previous chats, I think Harden's hamstring issues hampered him more than he let on this year and I'm not convinced he's simply on the decline.
