is there a trade market for Terrence Ross?
Dana Gauruder
12:03
Probably a fairly limited one. Ross' production has dropped the last couple of seasons, possibly due to a younger, more inexperienced cast around him. He was a somewhat above average 3-point shooter most of his career but his shooting numbers have really tanked (under 30 percent on 3s last season). He may be better off with a more veteran second unit around him and perhaps the most desirable thing regarding Ross is he's in his walk year (11.5 mill). A contender could bring him in, hope he has a bounce back season, then have that cap space to work with next summer.

When do you think the Jazz trade Mitchell? New York has all the power. They have the best offer and know no one can match it. Do the Jazz cave?
Dana Gauruder
12:09
Danny Ainge isn't the type to 'cave in' and take 50 or 75 cents on the dollar. While there seems to be an "artificial" deadline to move Mitchell, he'll want to get the max amount of assets possible. If Mitchell is still on the roster at camp, it may be a situation where he sits out and avoids injury while they continue to find a new home for him. It's also worth nothing that Utah has some other very tradeable pieces -- Bogdanovic, Clarkson, Beasley, etc. The Beverley trade shows that there are other moves to be made before or after a Mitchell deal. As for the Knicks, they seem to be in the driver's seat for Mitchell but they're going to have to give up more than 2 unprotected picks for him as well as some young players. It'll be interesting to see if they're willing to part with Barrett. I think in the long run Utah will wind up with Grimes and Toppin, if it ends up trading him to New York.

Westbrook and 2 first for heild and Turner. Does it happen? Who is saying no?
Dana Gauruder
12:12
I think it would make sense for both sides, if there were some assurances that Turner was willing to stay beyond this season. Turner is a UFA after this season, so I'm not sure the Lakers should give up their remaining draft assets for 1 year of Turner. Hield might fill a void left by Monk but not sure he moves the needle all that much.

is Doc Rivers the best coach in the East? Are the 76ers likely to win the East?
Dana Gauruder
12:16
Hard to make such a declaration regarding Doc, considering his recent playoff history. Spoelstra has a very formidable resume; Rick Carlisle, though he's in a rebuilding situation, has a championship and plenty of playoff wins on his resume. As for the Sixers 'likely' to win the East, certainly wouldn't make that bold a declaration. They're a contender if everything falls into place -- Embiid stays healthy at the right time (i.e. postseason), Harden still has something left in the tank, Maxey takes another step and Tucker helps their postseason D. But I wouldn't rank the Sixers any higher than fourth at this point.

What 1st round picks from last year, who mostly played G League and didn’t see a lot of time with pro team, will make a big leap this season?  I like Jalen Johnson on the Hawks
Dana Gauruder
12:21
Interesting topic. So many teams are playing their rookies more these days than they have in the past. Johnson is a good choice. Moses Moody would seem to have a path to more playing time with the Warriors this season. But truly if you go down the list, most of the first rounders appeared in at least half of their NBA team's games.
Common Anomaly
12:22
The Atlanta Hawks went from the 30th best team in 3P% to 2nd best in two seasons.  With the subtractions of Huerter and Gallinari, how much of a drop off do you foresee with Trae Young and Dejounte Murray each playing off the ball significantly more than they have in the past?
Dana Gauruder
12:25
It'll drop, for sure, since Murray is a below average 3 point shooter. However, Hunter shot a good percentage last season and they still have Bogie. The thing is many teams are going with multiple ballhandlers and Atlanta has 2 elite ones. The Hawks are counting on those guys to break down defenses and create more good looks for one another and their teammates.
Ross
12:26
Any rumors out there of interesting names of NBA vets such as Shabazz Muhammad, Jeremy Lin, or someone else that might sign a last minute training camp deal before training camp starts?
Dana Gauruder
12:29
Couple of blasts from the past there. There will be some last minute additions, mostly on non-guaranteed deals, as some teams with openings fill out their camp rosters. There are plenty of guys who played in the league last year who remain unsigned. In particular, there are a lot of familiar 30-somethings looking for jobs -- Blake Griffin, Harrell, etc. They are more likely to sign deals than others who haven't been in the league lately.

Do you expect any fallout from the Jaylon Brown trade rumors?
Dana Gauruder
12:33
Brad Stevens met with Brown recently and it appears they've smoothed over any rough edges caused by the rumors. Brown will also be motivated by the possibility of qualifying for a better contract if he can qualify for a Designated Veteran extension. It's not like they were eager to get rid of him -- he was part of the discussions for one of the league's premier players. So, I don't think -- at least in the short run -- it will be an issue.

Thoughts on trading Al Horford from Celtics to the Hawks for John Collins? Throw in Pritchard and protected draft pick. Horford goes back where started his career. Collins is younger and more on Tatum’s and Brown’s timeline. Thanks.
Dana Gauruder
12:38
From the Hawks' perspective, I don't see how that helps them in short run. Horford has an expiring contract but they're not really looking to clear space, they're going all out for another deep run like they had in 2021. The Murray trade confirms that. The Celtics would pick up a younger player but given Collins' contract, they'd have to truly value him as a major upgrade. Plus, Tatum is going to play some power forward in smaller lineups.
Abnormally Common
12:39
With the media speculating that Lillard and Beal should be unhappy because of their teams' lack of success and thus would be interested in going elsewhere, who do you speculate the media will speculate is unhappy and is interested in going elsewhere next: LaMelo Ball, Embiid, and/or will the media just recycle Lillard, Beal, Ayton, Durant, Irving, etc.?
Dana Gauruder
12:43
I don't know if the media creates these situations as much as their agents and other people around them, as well as teams who may be hoping to get one of those players. And then the media latches onto those things incessantly. Particularly the TV, radio and podcasts -- they need to have something to talk about. There's always going to be speculation on players who are on rebuilding or disappointing teams, or those franchises who seem to be spinning their wheels. LaMelo Ball will surely fall into that category.

Do you think the brow or the Greek freak will ever come to Chicago?
Dana Gauruder
12:46
Not anytime soon. He's in the second year of his max deal and can't opt until the summer of 2025. He's never hinted that he's unhappy in Milwaukee. Now, if things going to sour and they get bounced in the first round this upcoming season, there may be some rumblings from his camp. But he wouldn't be able to dictate where he'd go if he tried to force a trade. And really, if you thought the Nets put an exorbitant pricetag on Durant, imagine what you'd have to give up for the Bucks to part with Giannis.

Who is the number one pick in next year's draft?
Dana Gauruder
12:50
From all accounts, it's the French giant Victor Wembanyama. The one thing that might scare away some teams is what happened with Holmgren. These freakish big men seem more susceptible to injuries, especially lower body issues. The obvious alternative at the moment is Scoot Henderson, if he lights it up in the G League. But if you had to make a bet in Vegas, the smart money would be on the big guy.

12:50
Why is Chicago so high on Patrick Williams? Am I missing something? Is it because he was their first pick?
Dana Gauruder
12:52
He's super athletic and they view him as a difference maker on the defensive end. He's capable of guarding a variety of different players and he'll often be assigned the opponent's top scorer. They really don't need him to score a whole bunch -- they've got LaVine and DeRozan to lead the offense. Williams could be their main defensive weapon. Remains to be seen coming off the injury that kept him out most of last season.

12:54
what would a package look like in an Anthony Davis to Chicago look like in 2023?
Dana Gauruder
12:57
Davis has an early termination option after the 2023-24 season, so it would possibly be a rental situation. The afore-mentioned Williams would almost certainly be part of that trade, given they play the same position. Some other younger pieces and a few first-rounders. That would probably be true whether dealt him to Chicago or anywhere else.

Who is the worst team in the nba right now?
Dana Gauruder
1:00
According to my sources, every team is currently tied in the standings and that won't change until October. The Spurs would be in the discussion. The Jazz could be with the way they're trending. The Pacers, too, if they trade more of their vets. The Hornets are certainly trending in the wrong direction.
