Alright, folks. We're off. Thanks for participating.

So, since we've been mispronouncing Conor Sheary's name all this time, can we PLEASE now use Steve Perry's "Oh Sherrie" for his goal celebrations?  "Oh Sherrie, our love, holds on, holds on" by 18,000 people would be epic right?!
Jason Mackey
1:04
Unfortunately the Penguins don't do goal celebrations individually. Again, unfortunately. That would be a lot of fun.

Do you think the Pens will still be actively seeking another 3C after the Duchene trade? Sheahan, who doesn't shoot and has one point, can't be the answer there right? Also, do you think the team is also looking for a LW for Geno in the power forward mode? Any chance they are looking at Evander Kane from Buffalo?
Jason Mackey
1:06
I don't think the Duchene trade had much to do with their plans. You saw the return. No way the Penguins could or would match that. As for Sheahan and the 3C spot, they need offense there. I think it's too early to make any sort of determination with Sheahan. However, if he is unable to score, then, yes, I do think GMJR will look to upgrade that position. Remember, he has often struck a month or more before the deadline, in order to get a little bit of a lower price.
And no way on Evander Kane.

Can the Pens win another Cup loading up the top two lines and getting little to nothing offensively from the bottom six?
Jason Mackey
1:07
No, I don't think they can. I don't think any team can. To win the Cup, you have to get balanced scoring. That goes for the Penguins or the Blackhawks or the Capitals or the Lightning. If the Penguins are going to win another Cup, their bottom two lines have to be more productive. They'd be the first to tell you that, too.

The Pens have another set of back-to-backs this Friday and Saturday against Washington and Nashville. The Caps haven’t been playing all that well and the Preds will be coming off of three day’s rest when they meet the Pens. Who do you think will start in goal this weekend for Pittsburgh?
Jason Mackey
1:09
I see no reason to go away from Murray-Jarry. Stinks for Jarry to again get the second leg, but that's a backup goaltender's job. In his third start, odd as it may sound given what transpired in the playoffs, I think I'd rather play Jarry against the Predators than the Capitals. I view the Capitals as the more dangerous team from a rookie goaltender's perspective. That said, Murray has been incredible against the Preds. Sullivan could play matchups.
HB

Is it going to be Murray or Jarry Friday and I’m guessing the other one Saturday?
Jason Mackey
1:09
Yeah, they'll split. I would think Murray-Jarry, but we won't know for sure until Friday morning. Sullivan only announces goalies the day of.

Any updates on Rowney? I think the Pens miss him on that 4th line, not so much as a scoring threat, but as someone that really helped that unit to maintain possession time in the offensive zone. Hey, if they aren’t going to score, then the 4th line should at least wreak havoc on the other team’s ability to match lines by logging extended shifts.
Jason Mackey
1:10
He's skating. That's all we know. He has a fractured hand, and he's expected back no earlier than Nov. 24. So, it's early. Probably too early to tell, honestly. ... And the fourth line needs to score more, with or without Rowney. If they can do what they did at Florida -- the best game the fourth line has played this season -- the goals will come.
HB
1:10
Why they take archibald out of the lineup we are undefeated with him in?
Jason Mackey
1:11
Ha. 1-0 undefeated? If you put Archibald in, out of curiosity, who comes out?
HB
1:11
When Carter Rowney makes his return does mckegg have a send down option or do we have room to just scratch him?
Jason Mackey
1:12
Assuming they would not keep Corrado up, I believe they would have the cap space to keep two extra forwards (Archibald and McKegg in this case) and one additional D (Ruhwedel).

What's going on with Letang and Crosby? They both have been bad early on in different ways. Letang issue seems mental--lack of confidence, poor decision making. Sid seems like he hasn't started caring yet. Have you discussed their problems with Sullivan and what does he see as the problem, if any, and the solution? Do you think he agrees with JR that Letang's minutes should be limited ?
Jason Mackey
1:14
Trust me, lack of caring is not where it starts with Crosby. I've met few people who care MORE about their job, hockey or otherwise. If anything, he cares too much and could stand to chill out a little bit. Letang, too. I think Crosby is putting too much pressure on himself while at the same time becoming too passive. The line with Hornqvist isn't great for his game, in my opinion. I'd like to see 59-87-43 and for Crosby to shoot a lot more. With Letang, tamp down his minutes, minimize mistakes, give him some favorable matchup and let him build his game. More than other players, that means a lot to him. He needs to see some positive results and then later worry about taking chances.
HB
1:14
As a hockey writer what are your thoughts on the Duchene turris picks and prospects trade?
Jason Mackey
1:15
Glad you didn't ask me as a dentist or an accountant, HB. It's fine. It is what it is. I don't know if I have a strong opinion any which way. I think COL grossly underestimated the human aspect of the deal -- I.e. irritating Duchene -- but they're allowed; it's their team, their trade piece. I still don't think Colorado is very good or building toward anything significant.
Joe

When Hunwick returns who sits do you think? Ruhwedel has played well
Jason Mackey
1:16
I'd sit Ruhwedel. He's your No. 7. He's played well for a No. 7, but he's your No. 7.
HB
1:16
I think the Penguins lack of shoot first mentality on the power play is perfectly summed up by no one trying to put the puck on net with time winding down in the 1st I believe?
Jason Mackey
1:16
I've actually been OK with the frequency with which they shoot on the PP. I think that, more than anything, was a lack of clock awareness. Remember, hockey isn't like basketball, where they're used to paying attention to a shot clock.
HB
1:16
Is reaves someone the Penguins will try to resign this offseason or let him walk?
Jason Mackey
1:17
I think it's too early to tell. I think they would have interest, but I think they want to see how this works over 82-plus and then playoffs.
Danielle
1:17
how concerned are you about Sid lack of offense and do you think putting Phil on Sids line could help
Jason Mackey
1:18
Not at all, Danielle. He'll be fine. Crosby puts in an insane amount of work every day. He's the best player in the league. Even that guy goes through slumps. If it was for a lack of effort, or he was dragging down his team, maybe I'd worry. But Crosby is 180 degrees the opposite.
Danielle
1:18
Also, what did you think of Malkin's line with 59-71-81
Jason Mackey
1:19
I love it. Problem is, I like Guentzel with Crosby better. Seems like they're a playmaking LW short. Sheary does some good things but doesn't provide enough defense/blue collar/responsibility with Geno and Phil. Playing off of Geno and Phil isn't a strength for Rust. They have a couple parts with skills. Guentzel fits, but I think what it takes away from Crosby's line is greater than what it adds to Malkin's.

I'm sure you're getting a lot of "what's wrong with Sid" questions right now, but I figured I would offer my opinion on the matter and see what you think. I don't necessarily think there's anything wrong with him, I think it's more his mindset. For all the years I've watched Sid, I think he's at his very best when he is looking to go to the net, thinking shot first. In other words, I think he's best when he's looking to create for himself. If you look at the past two years, I think he scored more goals than usual because he was confident and was a little more "selfish" with the puck. Lately I see him pulling up at the blue line, thinking pass first. Just my thoughts. What do you think Jason?
Jason Mackey
1:22
I think you should get your own chat, Zack. ... Seriously, though, I agree with you. I think Crosby needs to get a little more selfish. I also think he will. We've seen him shoot himself out of slumps before. ... As I've been saying, too, I think going back to Sid and the Kids -- although it doesn't look like Sully agrees with me -- would give Crosby a little more comfort.

There was an article recently about the Pens, including Sid, being mostly dairy-free and gluten-free, but Zatkoff was talking about Sid's sweet tooth as recently as the 2016 playoffs. Does Sid just eat a lot of sad gluten-free cookies? What is the truth??
Jason Mackey
1:23
I've actually talked to Sid before about his sweet tooth. It's real. And it doesn't always have to be gluten-free. Chocolate chip cookies -- I need to get him to try Nancy B's, come to think of it -- and Timbits are two of his favorites.

Will Reavo fight me tomorrow night?

Oui.

Jason, with the Penguins playing up and down hockey as late, it seems their defense is lacking, Letang is underperforming, and both sides of the puck need tweaking. What are the biggest cons right now with this team? I truly believe this team is a Stanley Cup winner, only if they have the cards fall their way.
Jason Mackey
1:25
If you're going to criticize the Penguins or worry about them, I would start with their lack of depth scoring. Second might be their depth on defense; they're two injuries away from having Frank Corrado in their top six. Don't love that. Third could be the backup goaltender situation, although I'm pretty high on Tristan Jarry. Like him a lot. Letang and Crosby aren't concerns at all for me. It's November.
