Good morning y'all! Excited to be here and answer what questions y'all have!

Hey Deck! How was your experience in the Cardinals organization? Ps Go Cards!
Deck McGuire
10:02
I loved it! Playing for such a storied franchise was an honor. Getting to learn from that roster in spring training was one a career highlight.
Mike
10:02
How did you stay motivated to keep battling to get to the big leagues?
Deck McGuire
10:02
Because that was really the only thing I've ever wanted to do! I love the game, but equally I love the work to keep getting better.

Was your start at Wrigley your career highlight? How were you feeling out there that day?
Deck McGuire
10:04
It's definitely in the conversation. I felt great, but pitching somewhere like Wrigley always adds a little extra boost.

Hi Deck, thank you for taking the time! Native Memphian here, I watched you pitch a lot for the Redbirds and I wanted to know if you enjoyed pitching here and how much Memphis barbecue you ate
Deck McGuire
10:05
I really liked Memphis, both in my times as a Red Bird and as a visitor. And I tried to eat all of the BBQ they had to offer!

Hey Deck, what was it like playing and living in Korea?
Deck McGuire
10:06
An unreal experience! Loved every minute!
HHJJ

You played on far more ballparks than most players. What are your favorite minor and major league ballparks?
Deck McGuire
10:06
Minor league I'll put my top 3 as Pensacola, Oklahoma City, and Tulsa.
10:07
MLB Seattle, Fenway, and Wrigley
Yellow Jacket
10:07
What made you decide to finish your degree? Do a lot of players do that?
Deck McGuire
10:07
Because I can't let my wife keep saying she's the only GT grad in the house! But actually its because if I want the opportunity to coach in college I need a degree.

Hi Deck. Thanks for doing the chat. Do you feel your development was handled properly? As a Jays fan I look back on our player development history and am somewhat disappointed.
Deck McGuire
10:08
I think we all were doing what they thought was best at the time. We didn't have all the advantages with the data we have now.
Walton Dilcox
10:08
Anything you learned in the KBO that could be adapted by MLB orgs?
Deck McGuire
10:09
I'd say mostly they are adapting based on what teams are doing in the US.
Walton Dilcox
10:09
How was your time in the KBO? Any players we should look out for?
Deck McGuire
10:09
Everyone is talking about Lee Jung-Hoo from
10:10
Kiwoom and for good reason! Also Kang Baek-Ho from KT

You were in the game for a long time. How did it feel to finally make your MLB debut?
Deck McGuire
10:11
Indescribable really. It was a culmination of years of hard work and crazy support from everyone around me.

Hi Deck. Thanks for your time. How difficult is it not to know where you are going to pitch next year? Next month? I can’t imagine having to pick up and love so often. Shows your dedication.
Deck McGuire
10:12
It's the nature of the beast really. Learning to accept being uncomfortable was something that took a really long time, but once I did I felt like my career took the next step.

What's the most memorable: MLB debut, 1st MLB start, no hitter in KBO?
Deck McGuire
10:12
Wow, this one is really close, but I'll go with the no hitter since my first start didn't go so great!
Mike
10:12
Who were your fav teammates in minors? what about majors?
Deck McGuire
10:14
There are so many in the MiLB and for so many different reasons...
Blue Jay
10:14
Do you keep in touch with any teammates or coaches?
Deck McGuire
10:15
Absolutely! One of my favorite parts of my career is the relationships that I made over the years.

10:15
Did you feel a lot of pressure being such a high 1st round pick?
Deck McGuire
10:15
100%, and honestly not embracing that pressure early on slowed my development.
MikeD
10:15
It seems college coaching is increasing opens doors to MLB coaching. Would you consider ths
Deck McGuire
10:16
I want to stay in the game and help as many players as possible!
Dean
10:16
What did your typical offseason consist of? did you play winter ball or have a part time job?
Deck McGuire
10:17
Fortunately for me I was in a position where I didn't need to work in the offseason. So mine was: workout, baseball activity, and be a dad!
