Hey everyone, looking forward to another chat this week!
Going to give the queue a minute to build and we'll get started
Rosario

Any news on Seiya Suzuki’s top teams or a timeline on when he’ll sign? Thanks Anthony.
Anthony Franco
4:33
Signing timeline obviously depends on the end of the lockout. He's got 20 days from that point forward to make a decision
4:34
As for the team, Suzuki's played it pretty coy and not really expressed any sort of league or geographic preference
4:35
But the Giants, Mariners, Rangers, Red Sox, Jays and Yankees are among the teams known to be in on him. He might be the toughest free agent to peg a destination for, given the wide array of potential contract outcomes and his age

4:35
Do you think the season gets shortened? I'm not feeling optimistic.
Anthony Franco
4:35
Still sort of optimistic we get a full 162 in the regular season, but feeling less confident in that by the week
Rick
4:35
What do you feel that the impact of Boras representing Correa will be?
Anthony Franco
4:36
I don't think it'll move the needle all that much, although perhaps Boras has an in with an owner or two that WME might not have had
But I always expected Correa to get paid, probably above Seager's $325M. I still expect that
Bob
4:36
What do you think the Red Sox do post lockout?
Anthony Franco
4:37
They need a low-cost bullpen pickup or two, and I think they're in position to make a real run at a big-ticket free agent position player
4:38
Bryant, Story, Suzuki, Schwarber are all plausible targets in my view, since Hernández gives you the flexibility to address either the infield or outfield and move him to whatever spot you don't plug from the outside
Tony
4:38
what direction do you see the mariners going in? Remain aggressive with free agents or pivot to trade? For some reason I can’t see Story or Bryant signing with them
Anthony Franco
4:38
Sure seems like they want to remain aggressive, with reports that they're in the market for another infielder and another starter
4:39
Adding to the offense would be a bigger priority for me. I think they're a more plausible fit for either of the guys you mentioned than you seem to
James
4:39
Pretend lockout ended an hour ago.  What do you see Yankees doing? Any more additions or subtractions?
Anthony Franco
4:40
Need a shortstop, even if just a Nick Ahmed stopgap type. I think they'll try to make a trade for another starter as well, maybe continue to poke around for an upgrade over Sánchez behind the plate
I definitely don't think they're done. Seemed like they just wanted to wait out the initial stages of free agency to get a feel for the luxury tax line in the next CBA
Boras
4:41
Do I fleece the nationals for Correa? Fit isn’t bad for a 27 year old SS who is going to sign for 8 plus years - rebuild time is one 1-2 of that.
Anthony Franco
4:41
I think the Nats make a ton of sense on Correa for the reasons you mentioned. I think they're an interesting dark-horse option, but nothing they've done so far this winter suggests that kind of huge addition is on the horizon

4:42
Where does Nolan Gorman fit into the Cardinals lineup and position for 2022. Does he stay at 2B and move Edman?
Anthony Franco
4:42
I think he spends most of his time next year at DH. Evaluators don't seem to love him at second base
4:43
Not out of the question he plays there on occasion, but I'd be surprised if he takes the job from Edman, who's an OK hitter and Gold Glove caliber defender there
Nate
4:43
Do you see the Halos as possibly being in the mix for Correa?
Anthony Franco
4:44
Doubt they want to make that kind of commitment with a few big long-term deals already on the books and a desire to extend Ohtani within the next two years
Story might be a better fit if they're going for a star, but it seems like they might look for an Ahmed or Paul DeJong type of stopgap instead

4:45
I’m looking to add some power to my 2022 lineup on a bit of a budget. 1B, DH and COF are all open or could be soon. Josh Bell and/or Luke Voit fit that pretty well, but what would they cost me in terms of prospects?
Anthony Franco
4:45
I doubt either costs all that much. One year of Bell at a projected $10M is fine but not exactly teeming with surplus value
4:46
Voit would probably be a little harder to pull but that the Yankees went and got Rizzo last summer seems to suggest they weren't in love with Voit's health outlook after all the injuries he played through last year
4:47
If the Yankees re-sign Rizzo or land someone huge like Olson or Freeman, Voit's probably gone
Kirt
4:47
Would you rather have the next 7 years with Trout or Wander?
Anthony Franco
4:48
Depends on if this question includes their respective contracts. Trout if it doesn't, Wander if it does
Crisis Junkie
4:48
Lauer for McNeil or J.D.?
Anthony Franco
4:48
Don't think the Mets would do this, at least not for McNeil
4:49
Davis is more plausible, but Milwaukee might need to toss in a more minor secondary piece
grw
4:49
Kevin Newman possibly a fit for the Phillies?
Anthony Franco
4:49
Eh, I'd probably just run it back with Gregorius or Stott at that point
4:50
I don't think Newman's a good fit for any contender that needs a shortstop. He was the worst hitter among everyday players last year by a pretty substantial margin. He's a utility guy on a contender IMO
