Hey everyone, apologies on the later than normal start time on the chat this week
Looking forward to another week of questions, let's get into it
Richard

Any thoughts on the Giants interest in Matthew Boyd?  Is he a good fit?
Anthony Franco
8:05
I haven't seen this reported interest, but sure he fits there. Giants have done well with the affordable mid-tier starter and Oracle might help with some of the home run issues he's had, even if it's more hitter-friendly than it had been
Sox fan

What do the white Sox do after the lockout?
Anthony Franco
8:06
Second base and a lefty platoon partner for Engel still feel like a must
They're probably trading Kimbrel, maybe they can address one of those positions that way. I'm sure they'd love to move Keuchel too but that's a tough sell
Brian
8:06
Who do you think the Padres will get in free agency?
Anthony Franco
8:07
I like them as a fit for Castellanos on paper, although there hasn't been a ton of clarity about whether their spending capacity's topped out after all the moves last winter
OZ
8:07
Over/under on the end to the lockout.  I’m betting after February 15th.  And you say…
Anthony Franco
8:08
That feels about right. I guess I'd say it's more likely later than earlier but I'm still hopeful we don't lose much gameplay
Aj
8:08
matt Olson to marlins any chance ?
Anthony Franco
8:09
Interesting fit, but I don't hate it. The arb salary's going to be high (projected at $12MM) but Miami's suggested they could spend a little bit to upgrade the offense
I'm sure the A's would have interest in some of the controllable pitching Miami could put on the table
Stanton
8:09
do you think the Angels make a big splash? Correa? Story?
Anthony Franco
8:09
I did coming into the winter, but there's been basically no indication they want to splurge on a shortstop
8:10
Feels like Rodón's probably likelier than Correa or Story if they're going big on anyone
Future GM for the Reds
8:10
Relief pitcher trade candidates when lockout ends?
Anthony Franco
8:11
Wrote about David Bednar and Chris Stratton of the Pirates a couple weeks ago. Bednar probably doesn't go anywhere ultimately but I think they should be open to it at least
Cole Sulser in Baltimore, Taylor Rogers and Caleb Thielbar with the Twins
Nate
8:11
Is there a realistic chance Trevor Story settles for a short term deal?
Anthony Franco
8:12
Idk, like 10% maybe? I think he'll still do fine. Particularly with teams like the Astros, Cubs, Yankees reportedly hesitant to go ten years for Correa, Story at five feels like a nice "fallback"
Mike Honcho
8:12
Are we concerned about David Fletchers 2nd half showing  regression moving forward? Or will he adjust to how pitchers are attacking him?
Anthony Franco
8:13
A bit of both, I guess. I don't think he got meaningfully worse so much as he's always riding the vagaries of ball-in-play results with his approach
8:15
Fletcher's offensive game is putting everything into play, none of it hard. He had a second-half BABIP of .226, which should come up significantly moving forward. But I think he's going to a bit slump-prone throughout his career because he really needs ground-balls to find their way through

players Complain salaries aren’t increasing as revenue increases.  Sone owners would never agree but why aren’t players pushing for complete revenue sharing with floor and cap?  Salaries increase as revenue increases.  Working very well for NBA.
Anthony Franco
8:15
Players have always been opposed to the cap or a specific revenue share split because it limits the top-end salaries
8:16
The PA wants to raise the money for the younger players/mid-tier veterans without meaningfully taking away from the Corey Seager's of the world
Whether that's doable remains to be seen. Obviously, the league's not thrilled about the idea of forking over a larger percentage of revenue. But that's the union's starting point
Bloom
8:16
Would an Eric Hosmer and Will Myer trade appeal to me? If so what kind of proposal makes sense for both sides?
Anthony Franco
8:17
Nah, both of those guys are getting paid more than they'd make if they were free agents. There's not much appeal for the Red Sox or anyone else unless San Diego's kicking in some real prospect talent
mlb fan
8:17
who is your favorite MLB broadcaster?
Anthony Franco
8:18
Hmm, good question. Probably Joe Davis?
8:19
Dude got tasked with replacing Vin Scully, an absolute legend, and he's stepped in and been awesome (in my opinion, obviously this kind of stuff's pretty subjective)
Chris
8:19
What would you say the percent chance is trout finishes his career only playing for the angels?
Anthony Franco
8:19
Another good one. I think I'd have to go below 50%, just since it's pretty rare to have one-team players now
8:20
But it's also tough to envision specific scenarios where Trout ends up anywhere else over the next five to ten years. So I'll go 45%
Stanton
8:20
What do you see the rangers doing when MLB is back? A premier pitcher? Suzuki? Does Jung start at 3b?
Anthony Franco
8:21
Texas makes a ton of sense on Suzuki, yeah. I'd lean IKF starting the season at third but think Jung will be up within a month or so
Chris
8:21
1st basemen and ss for the Yankees starting next season if you had to guess?
