I like you so much more than Steve Adams, it's incomprehensible
Jeffrey Todd
2:48
Tim, please ... not in public
Greg
2:49
Do you see Jose Alteve ever winning MVP?
Jeffrey Todd
2:49
He might well be the odds-on fav to do so this year.
Dave
2:50
Do the Nationals pick up Gio Gonzalez option or try to extend him?
Jeffrey Todd
2:50
Just pick up the option, most likely.
The King of all Questioners
2:50
Leury Garcia, Matt Davidson, and now Nicky Delmonico - the canard has to finally be dead that the White Sox can't develop positional players from their system. Right?
Jeffrey Todd
2:51
Um, let's wait and see how those guys play over a larger sample. (Also, none of them really came through CWS system; all were reclamation projects, really.)
Gabe
2:51
If the Twins were to offer a LT contract (through arb) to Buxton or Sano - who would you pick? Each has their own risks, to be certain.
Jeffrey Todd
2:52
I don't know that they would necessarily be picking between them. If the team believes in both guys and sees value, they should pursue both. It isn't quite the same as if they were both heading into FA next year, such that it might be cost-prohibitive to do two deals.
2:53
But you are right, both have clear and very different downside scenarios. I do see them each being fairly interesting extension candidates, in part because of that risk -- player/agent may see the merit in locking in guaranteed money, too.
Jacob
2:54
I have Blake Parker as a better waiver claim than Gennett.
Jeffrey Todd
2:54
Also a good nominee.
This could be the genesis of a post ...

no no no no no no NO!!!!!!! Stop it with the Profar to San Diego nonsense! STOP IT!
Jeffrey Todd
2:55
Why? Not many teams need a SS and the Rangers just need to move on. I get that the Preller connection is overplayed, but it does make some facial sense.
Toddry
2:56
Anyway to prove that rob manfred invited Sanchez over Dickerson for the home run derby due to market size instead of home run merits? (NY > TB)
Jeffrey Todd
2:56
It's probably time to move on from that one.
Rays got to play in Cuba, that's cooler anyway.
T. Plouffe
2:56
Will a playoff contender give me a shot to contribute? I just want to play.
Jeffrey Todd
2:57
Maybe as a bench guy once rosters expand, though even then there's a need for a 40-man spot. Twins legitimately could make some sense, esp with Sano out.
Conor McGregor
2:58
Jeff Mate! Which brawl was the best this year? Harper vs. Strickland or Miggy vs. Romine
Jeffrey Todd
2:58
From the lil video I just saw, Miggy's boxing skills are far superior to Harp/Strick, so I'll take that.
2:59
Miggy v Odor would be baseball's version of Mayweather-McGregor
Marcell Ozuna
2:59
why haven't i been extended yet or traded to bolster the farm system?
Jeffrey Todd
2:59
Hard to do that kind of deal with a new ownership group still coming on board. Anyway, he wasn't a very likely August candidate.

What sort of contract can Swarzak expect to sign this offseason?
Jeffrey Todd
3:01
2/12-ish?
Just looked ... he has never cracked a million in a given season. The Swarzak household will be a merry one this winter.
Pine Marten
3:02
Does Holland's recent struggles mean he takes his option and stays in Colorado?
Jeffrey Todd
3:02
Not yet, but it sure could end up leaning that way at some point.
Pine Marten
3:03
So Desmond might come back as a SS... end of the road for Trevor Story? Maybe trade him to the Padres for some pitching?
Jeffrey Todd
3:03
More likely he stays in the org and keeps trying to work things out (if Desmond does in fact take over there).
Melvin Upton
3:04
Will someone give me a shot?
Jeffrey Todd
3:05
Eh. I mean he's going to at least get a spring invite next year, but I don't know that I see much likelihood of him really getting a 40-man spot with a contender this month. Not out of the question, but it seems unlikely.

With Toles projected to be every day left fielder next season and Bellinger and Agonz vying for playing time do Dodgers decline Forsythe option to allow CT3 everyday at bats at 2B?
Jeffrey Todd
3:07
I wouldn't really describe the situation that way at all. Bellinger isn't going to be scraping for ABs while Toles waltzes back into regular duties. More likely Bellinger plays more or less every day, somewhere, while Toles enters the great platoon mix. CT3 is more likely to be a heavily used roving utility type than man a single position, IMO.
3:08
Think it's still up in the air whether Forsythe option is picked up.
No
3:08
Harper Strickland ended a guys career!
Jeffrey Todd
3:08
Morse was nearly done before that, but you really really hate to see a guy injured that badly.  Always enjoyed Morse, even if he did have the unfortunate PED thing.
