Not unless the Jays just put him on irrevocable waivers a la Nicasio. (Seems unlikely.) He was already claimed and pulled back from revocable waivers.
Chris
2:57
Is it only players on current 40 man rosters that have to clear waivers for August trades? Any non 40 man minor league player can be traded?
Jeffrey Todd
2:57
Correct.
Stan

East coast guy? Uptons home is in Scottsdale , Arizona. I think he wouldn't be opposed to staying in LA where it's closer in proximity.
Jeffrey Todd
2:58
Born and raised in VA. Lots of players live in FL or AZ. Didn't know he did, but that's a fair point for sure.

How's the fantasy baseball season looking?  Should be close to fantasy playoff time!
Jeffrey Todd
2:58
MLBTR league is traditional - just accumulation of points. Happy to report I am currently in first place.
2:59
But look, we're not taking anything for granted. One day at a time. Just grinding.

What do you think of my new song?
Jeffrey Todd
2:59
That would require me to actually listen to it.
@jonmorosi
now
#Astros now have outfield surplus, with Maybin joining roster and Gonzalez returning to more of an outfield role once Correa is active. @MLB
I mean, I'd call that having a good and deep roster, but whatever.
3:00
Should be fun to watch some of these teams with deep benches in the postseason. Lots of matchup options for some of the best teams in baseball.

Any reason why the Cards are getting rid of Siegrist? Can't see another reason why other than bringing up prospects. This is Siegrist's first bad year.
Jeffrey Todd
3:01
Just remember that teams know more than we do. Doubt they would just give up on him b/c of some tepid results.
At first glance, though, that was fairly surprising.
Dirk Diggler
3:01
Is Eppler done? For what they gave up for Upton, you'd think they could get Phillips from ATL for a hand-shake and a Snickers bar. Cowart has really back to earth and that 2B hole remains...
Jeffrey Todd
3:02
Would be nice to add at 2B and in the staff, but this time of year it's often less about filling needs and more about taking individual opportunities that may arise.
Strained hammy for Beltre, ugh.
3:03
That's a big hit for TEX, even if chances were already fairly slim.
GregS
3:03
Will the Jays do anything today? With both Happ/Estrada claimed and pulled back I don't see anything happening but do you?
Jeffrey Todd
3:03
Steve Pearce could help somebody. But there's been no indication.
3:05
Sorry just had to usher one of my kids out of the room, ha. I'm back
Mike Leake
3:05
I kinda suck, but do you think I'm worth the 3/36 the Ms are going to have to pay?
Jeffrey Todd
3:05
Ha. I mean, yeah. That's what it costs for youthful, durable, decent pitchers. It's not a bad price.
Pip
3:06
tell me the Orioles are going to actually make it into October.
Jeffrey Todd
3:06
I still don't like their roster all that much, but that has not stopped them thus far.
3:07
And it's not like they are battling any behemoths.
As plausible as any of the teams in that general bunch.
Tony
3:08
How much do you buy into the Cubs overused Chapman in the playoffs BS?
Jeffrey Todd
3:08
I haven't examined it in any detail, but I do think it's possible that pitchers can go out too hard for too long in a given season, with impacts the next year. That's due in no small part to the lack of rest over the winter.
3:09
In his case, the velo is there, but that doesn't mean all is perfect. Hard to say, but I don't think it's pure quackery to look into any such linkage.
mmddyyyy
3:09
Could NY support another MLB team?
Jeffrey Todd
3:10
Look, I already had this talk with my 6-year-old daughter three years ago. Back in the good old days, there were three great teams in New York.
I think it could, sure. But doesn't mean it would make sense for the city or the league.
Todd Jeffrey
3:11
apparently Jeff hates jon morosi!
Jeffrey Todd
3:11
Nah it just jumped out at me. (I keep an eye on twitter while chatting.)
Neal Huntington
3:12
Is it a bad look that we got rid of Juan Nicasio to clear a whopping $600k?
Jeffrey Todd
3:12
I mean, they are clearly not going to qualify for the postseason. Maybe given the bad PR, it's not worth it, but I personally don't see a reason to give them bad PR. It's a sensible business/baseball decision, ultimately.

Whats my trade value right now?
