Neither?
They should be looking for youthful upside in the OF, I think. Taking chances on talented guys that haven't made it, etc.

You wrote that article about extending Nola. What terms are you thinking? As soon as you tell me your thoughts, I'll give his agent a call.
Jeffrey Todd

Phils shouldn't get caught up over a few mil here and there. I'd be willing to go up to, say, 40 over 5 + 2 option years. That's moving the market up, sure, but so what? It's a great price and easily worth the risk.

Can you give us an update on who you see going to the WS now and who you think would win
Jeffrey Todd
3:11
I still favor the Astros, as I have all year. And the Dodgers have a huge advantage b/c the Nats and Cubs are throwing all their arms at each other right now.
So that's where my money would be. No real feelings on who'd take the next series. All of the teams left are very good.

So does ol' Dusty yank Gio after the 1st tonight and force Maddon to either play an all righty lineup vs. Roark or burn his bench early to get the lefty/righty matchups with Heyward, Schwarber, etc?
Jeffrey Todd
3:11
No but he should.
3:12
Actually he should let Gio go longer than that. The guy may have had some good fortune this year, but he's a good pitcher. I'd like to get something like 7-9 outs apiece from Gio and Roark.
If things really go well maybe you even don't have to use Scherzer, not that you can prioritize holding him back.
3:13
If all 3 of those guys throw ... guess that means Ejax gets the ball for game 1 of the (hypothetical) NLCS? Yikes.
Okay, couple more ...

Is Wei Yin Chen tradeable? What would that look like? Bad contract swap?
Jeffrey Todd
3:14
I mean, any player is tradeable. But this winter? Yeesh. They'd have to keep almost all of it.

DO the Cubs or Nationals do a major rebuild if they lose tonight?
Jeffrey Todd
3:14
No way. Still set up well for the future.

Which team do you see making the playoffs first, Reds, Braves, White Sox, Padres or Marlins?
Jeffrey Todd
3:17
In some ways, the Reds may be closest, just b/c they have the most pieces in place. But that would require huge strides in pitching and they have to be very careful about pushing too hard too soon.
Otherwise I'd have Braves and Pads ahead of White Sox. Marlins ... I just don't see them investing enough around this core, so I think it hasnt even gotten blown up yet.

Will Mike Fiers traded or non-tendered?  Seems like a possible innings eater for someone.
Jeffrey Todd

Good name to keep an eye on, yeah.

Two deals I'm working on, Flores and Lagares for Kipnis or Flores for Dee Gordon. What do you think?
Jeffrey Todd
3:20
Not really sure I understand either of these proposals. Those guys don't seem like Alderson types. Also Wilmer is a solid piece!
Cheap, too.
Brian

Would you accept this trade: Span, Pence, Williamson, Parker, Slater, and Hernandez and maybe a mid prospect for Ozuna, Stanton, and Yelich.
Jeffrey Todd
3:21
I am honestly not trying to be a jerk here, but that is very, very far off. That group of players wouldn't come close for Stanton alone.
Obviously, the old guys would dump salary to offset Stanton. That'd mean you'd have to give way more in prospect capital to get him.

Sabathia, back in the fold for one more year?
Jeffrey Todd
3:22
Sure, why not?
They could use the depth.
Cozart
3:22
most likely to be underpaid free agent of 2017-18?
Jeffrey Todd
3:23
Demand does not look promising, so he could be a good value target, yeah.
Ben
3:24
What would it take to get Yelich? The one on the Marlins, not the promising catching prospect in the Braves org..
Jeffrey Todd
3:24
Lots. He'd fit  on quite a few rosters. Maybe the upside isn't sky high, but he's just a quality player on a nice deal.
