What would they want? I think they value him and also don't want to sell low.
2:48
Dyson is really a superior player but is also much older. He could even end up requiring three years, who knows? So this is a good hypothetical example of a situation where multiple negotiations could be ongoing, assuming the Reds are willing to engage seriously and mystery team here is in need of a heavily used, defensive/speed 4th OF type that can play center.
2:49
(Since the poll split, I'm just going to mix and match - short and long.)
Time will tell

I myself see the Pirates trading away players and clearing around 50 million off the books. Ie trading cutch, jay hay, and others. I see the team going completely young. I feel it would make the team a lot better. How do u see the off-season for them?

Good excuse to share this awesome song:

As for the Bucs, all indications are they are really still going to be looking to add a few pieces rather than pursuing drastic change. I do think there's a possibility of trades -- Cutch and Cole would be most likely in my mind -- but I don't know that they will do that just to leave a much, much lower payroll. I think they have reason to see a window that's still open right now.

Can the Reds get a #1 prospect and more for Iglesias? Would like to get our future SS or ace for him.
Jeffrey Todd
2:51
He should command very high-level talent, yeah, and I'd hold out for a premium prospect headlining a package.

Could Holland end up accepting a qualifying offer after declining the player option?  There's no way he's a $15-$18M a year player on the open market.
Jeffrey Todd
2:52
Well, that is a good point. Now that the season is over, he'll be considering the QO rather than the player option (which is at $15MM).
2:53
That said, especially for an older reliever who is only a year back from TJ, now's the time to go out and try to get more on the open market. He's questionable to score a Melancon deal -- though never count out Boras -- but still will do far better than $18MM in total on the open market.
Going year to year has upside - how much would, say, Bryce Harper get on a one-year deal next winter? - but there's a reason players cash in when they find themselves in good position to do so.

What does it take for the dbacks to get Avi Garcia, looks like a smart move for the dbacks ?
Jeffrey Todd
2:54
He's a pretty risky guy to go after, so they'd have to be believers. And he isn't super cheap after a big year. Just one more year of arb control after '18. Upside there, though.
2:55
Big question remains how much payroll they will add or, if not, how they'll clear space. I'm just not sure.

Who should the Rangers target from the pitching free agent class this offseason?
Jeffrey Todd
2:56
I'd guess they will be playing in the same range they did last year. Bounceback or innings-eating guys on one year deals. I guess they could continue to show some appetite for risk?
2:58
In that case you'd be looking at Chatwood, Liriano et al. Just not sure they will be going after the next level up and committing multiple years.

Chances Donaldson signs extension this off-season with the Jays versus hitting open market next season, versus traded?
Jeffrey Todd
2:58
He doesn't have much financial reason to take less than market value since he is already commanding monster arb money. And I don't know that I see the Jays FO going crazy for a player of that age.

How good are we going into next year?  This year was quite a bummer for us.
Jeffrey Todd
3:00
There's a very broad range of possibilities. I'd guess things won't go quite as badly as they did last year and not quite as well as they had previously.

I am one of the best unknown players in MLB aren't I?
Jeffrey Todd

Huge year, yeah.
Domingo helped me to the MLBTR fantasy league CHAMPIONSHIP. Forever grateful.

I was thinking Machado to the Cards for Flaherty, Dakota Hudson, Gyorko, and Pisctotty. Thoughts?
Jeffrey Todd
3:02
Not sure if there's a carrying talent there, but it's interesting. If the O's believed in Flaherty then how could they not do this, right? Then again, it is one of the very best players in baseball.

Can you give me your guess on the Royals line up next year?
Jeffrey Todd
3:03
Why, so you can laugh when it is so so far off?
3:04
Just impossible to know at this point.
Cody Bellinger
3:04
You would rather have me next year than that Hoskins dude, right?
Jeffrey Todd
3:04
Well, you're a more promising defender and baserunner. But it's at least a coin flip on the bat, I think.
3:05
I mean, I fully realize Belli did it longer. But Hoskins' combo of patience and power is unreal.
3:06
(Both also on my fantasy team this year since you were dying to know. Ha.)

Can the Padres get a blue chip prospect via trade this offseason?
Jeffrey Todd
3:06
Not sure how that would really come about. I expect a fairly quiet offseason for SDP. They'll be hunting around for value, trying to figure out a SS, and deciding just how many danged rule 5 picks to make.
3:07
Oh, well, Brad Hand. Duh. Guess depending upon your definition of blue chip, that could happen.
He and Solarte would be the likeliest trade pieces.

Who is more likely to return to Detroit this offseason: Austin Jackson or Curtis Granderson?
