Do you see the cubs trying to trade Heyward to get SP or bullpen help?
Jeffrey Todd
2:37
Heyward is a salary dump at this point. So unless you are thinking of a scenario where they are getting back an overpriced pitcher ... not really.
2:38
(I don't mean "salary dump" to suggest he has no merit. Or that he's worth his contract. He's a useful player still but is not worthy anything close to his contract.)

2:38
What kind of haul would Alex Colome bring?
Jeffrey Todd
2:39
Not what you'd probably want if you're a Rays fan. He really had a pretty mediocre season. Significant declines in K rate and swinging strike rate to go with it.
Still value for sure, but I definitely don't think he's in the range of Osuna and Iglesias anymore in terms of value.

How much of a playoff share do i get from the Astros?
Jeffrey Todd
2:40
Your market will be set by what they give to Chris Taylor's hat.

2:40
What would it take to get Stanton to the Cubs?
Jeffrey Todd
2:41
Needs are elsewhere. Don't see it.

What kind of value does Avisail Garcia have this offseason? Giants, Cards, Boston could all use a corner OF.
Jeffrey Todd
2:43
Still not sold that MLB teams are sold on him. Very BABIPy breakout. There's value there, of course, but I don't know that it's going to be worth it for the Sox to create a hole in the OF and give up a chance for even more if he keeps hitting.
Really a tough fit for me w/Cards -- they have plenty of choices. Why go pay to get Avi? Is he really better than what they have?
2:44
And I don't see why the Red Sox need a corner OF? He's probably not as good as any of the Sox' 3 OF, right? Maybe he could DH, tho, since metrics have never liked the glove.
Giants could make some sense I guess.

Do you think Pittsburgh has any interest in Schwarber, Happ or perhaps Russell for G. Cole?
Jeffrey Todd
2:45
Russell would be a pretty nice fit, though they do have SS options coming. Otherwise ... eh, I guess Happ would be a flexible enough piece but I definitely don't see interest in Schwarbs.
Generally, though, Cole would be a good CHC target. He will be for others, too.
Steve Holt

Qauntril, Urias, Mason Thompson, Michael Getty’s and TJ Weir for Stanton and $75 million if he doesn’t opt out. Who says no?
Jeffrey Todd
2:46
No way the Padres pursue anything like this.
They are staying on the slow and steady road.

Granderson, Kendrick, Chatwood offseason for the Jays?
Jeffrey Todd
2:47
Jays fans are quivering with excitement.
Don't they have to do a little more than that? I think so.

Who does not play in 2018?  Werth, Granderson, Beltran, Ethier.
Jeffrey Todd
2:49
Could def see Beltran riding off into the sunset if he gets a ring, but all these guys would get MLB deals. Just a question whether any will hold out for bigger money or roles than the market will bear.
I also don't see any of those players being promised more than a timeshare.

Most likely trade candidates not on the Marlins this offseason?
Jeffrey Todd
2:49
Ian Kinsler is #1 on the trade likelihood list, IMO
Jimmy
2:50
Who gets a bigger contract, Jake McGee or Mike Minor? I'm curious to see how teams evaluate McGee after pitching in Coors.
Jeffrey Todd
2:50
The latter.
2:51
McGee will do pretty well, too, I think, not b/c of anything about Coors but bc he still is a lefty with big stuff.
Mantis Toboggan
2:51
Why haven't cubs signed any of their young talent (barring Rizzo a few years back) to long term extensions? Will they do so?
Jeffrey Todd
2:51
Last Cubs question, promise. But they do have an interesting offseason and just got knocked out.
2:53
Who  would that be, exactly? Clearly Bryant, but he's a Boras guy and is already guaranteed huge money via arb. They'd have to give him a ludicrous contract to get that done. Honestly I'm not sure any other position players really look like extension candidates at this stage except Contreras, but he's far enough away and won't be hugely expensive in arb so why take the injury risk? Perhaps Hendricks would be a candidate on the pitching side?
Jon Daniels
2:53
Does Andrew Cashner accept the QO?
Jeffrey Todd
2:53
I would certainly advise him to. And I'd advise the Rangers not to issue it.
Angels Pen
2:54
Who’s our lefty specialist next year?
Jeffrey Todd
2:54
Dunno but Eppler is going to have to do some more magical minor-league pitching work to fill out the staff.
2:55
They got incredible value from their MiLB signings. That is rare to hit on so many players. Will probably need to plunk down some cash to expect similar results this time around.
