Would Villar's upside and controllability coupled with Gordon's cost make a Villar for Gordon swap realistic, or am I too light?
Jeffrey Todd
2:57
I'm not really high on Dee's value, so sure, I could see something like that. Gordon isn't all that interesting to me but would be more so if a team got him and paired him with a solid right-handed-hitting bench piece to share some time there and elsewhere.

What kind of deal would Joe Smith will get
Jeffrey Todd
2:58
Hmm he was pretty filthy. But is rather old. Maybe 2/12-14 range?
I haven't thought about him much but worth taking a closer look.

Is Keon Broxton enough to get me a 3 type SP? Or do I need to sweeten the pot? Maybe Villar?
Jeffrey Todd
2:59
There's a reason you feel comfortable moving those pieces. Other teams won't be giving away high-quality, affordable starters to get them.

The Padres are still a year away from competing, but do you see any fits for them signing/trading for an impact player similar to what the mats did with Jason Werth? They have more than enough payroll room next season
Jeffrey Todd
3:00
But they probably don't have the kind of payroll ceiling the Nats did. I could see them adding a veteran and spending a bit of money, but probably not that kind of length.
3:01
Brewers have re-signed Sogard for 2018
3:02
So that seems to make it likelier they'll be looking at righty bats at 2B, though I suppose that's not strictly necessary since he could just be the general utility dude.
Jimmy
3:02
What do you think Tanaka will get if he opts out? Way more than 3/67, right?
Jeffrey Todd
3:03
Yeah. Not twice that, but a substantial amount more.

Should the Giants just blow up the roster and rebuild from the ground up? To prep for Post Bochy Era?
Jeffrey Todd
3:04
Nothing to do with Bochy, but there's a strong argument for it. Trouble is, they are also kind of stuck in that some of their better players are coming off of putrid seasons. They need to let them rebuild their stock. It's close enough that they are more than justified to keep trying to win. Much of the core isn't super old at least. But it's a tough spot and it could turn out badly.

Who will end up getting the most regrettable contract (from a team perspective) this offseason?
Jeffrey Todd
3:04
Hosmer
3:05
I'm just not a huge believer. But people say he's a winner, whatever that means.
He did have a legitimately good offensive season this year, to be sure. I just don't see how you get to the nine-figure range.

who hangs up first..profar to mets for wheeler and minor leaguer
Jeffrey Todd
3:06
Profar has to have significantly more value just b/c Wheeler has been so broken up and doesn't have much control left.

Since it doesn't look like the Rockies are going to offer me a contract...... where is my best opportunity to play for the next 3 years?
Jeffrey Todd
3:06
You're not getting 3 years from anyone.
3:07
I mean I guess there's like some very slight chance, but I'd be stunned. Expect a one-year bounceback deal myself.

What do you think Addison Reed will command? And what is a likely place to land? The Lou?
Jeffrey Todd
3:07
I think he'll get near Cecil's contract, like 4/30ish.  Lots of suitors for a quality young late-inning reliever.

What teams have the brightest future over next 5 years? ... dodgers, yanks, cubs, astros, anyone else?
Jeffrey Todd
3:09
Over that long a span you need to be looking at entire farm systems. So, realistically, you have to include a number of other organizations that have loads of young talent at or nearing the majors.

I would like to see the mets play the market for cameron maybin- Affordable Utility outfielder with speed who can play center and get hot at the plate every once in a while. I'd gladly take him in his age 30-33 seasons
Jeffrey Todd
3:10
Isn't that also Juan Lagares? Guess I'd rather have a platoon partner for him (so lefty bat).

Trade...Freddy Freeman + Matt Kemp ( full salary ) to the Astros for 3B Alex Bregman who says no ?
Jeffrey Todd
3:13
With Kemp, there's just no way HOU would do this IMO. Really, I'm not sure I see Freeman as a more valuable player than Bregman. The contract is significantly more expensive. He didn't finish as strong (even if that's likely b/c of the injury). And Bregman is a really, really good player who turned it on late and is still quite young. Also much more flexible defensively.
3:14
Some would disagree with that. But I think adding on Kemp money makes it pretty easy for me.

How soon will the Royals seriously entertain offers on remaining veterans (outside of Perez)?
Jeffrey Todd
3:15
Who would that be, though? Gordon and Kennedy contracts are way under water. Duffy is all but impossible to trade after the DUI thing (even if the contract still looks like a good one). That pretty much leaves Herrera, who should be marketed but was not himself last year.
3:16
Going to take a couple more here and then wrap it up ...

Should Met fans be happy with what they saw from Rosario?

Skill is there. Sample too small to say much either way. Should be excited still.
