Sorry for the brief delay -- we are finalizing this year's top 50 list!
Lay some questions on me and I'll start chatting momentarily.

What time will the list be released and when does the contest start
Jeffrey Todd
2:14
List may well go up while we are chatting. Not sure if the contest is going to happen this year, honestly. (Like, I have not heard anything about it and just plain don't know.) It has proven logistically challenging, unfortunately.

Where I am headed and for how much?
Jeffrey Todd
2:16
Now come on, I'm not just going to give away our list!
2:17
Suffice to say we think he still has plenty of earning power, but nothing like the numbers people were once talking about.
2:18
And he's one of the toughest players to place, in my opinion.

Twins biggest pickup this year?
Jeffrey Todd
2:19
I think the collective thinking here is that the Twins are a dark horse to do something pretty significant. And they clearly could stand to add quality rotation and pen pieces. Lots of options. I don't think they will chase a top-end player, but could spend big if the market opens some value opportunities, or they could target a guy (Cobb?) and decide to spend.

Do the White Sox hold on to Abreu or trade him while value is high?
Jeffrey Todd
2:21
Really could go either way, but I am coming around on the idea he is dealt. Cardinals and Red Sox looks like strong possibilities for me. Part of the value is the fact that, while he's not cheap, the commitment is limited.

2:21
Why are so many people talking against the new J-Up deal?
Jeffrey Todd
2:22
Seems like a pretty solid value, somewhat less than he'd have earned on the open market. Not a stunning bargain or anything, but can't expect that at this point.

Stanton to the Nats for prospects such as Robles and Soto. Bolsters Nats lineup and helps them if Harper leaves after this season. Who says no?
Jeffrey Todd
2:23
Really not seeing a match there, honestly. They hope Robles will be a star not long after Harper's contract is up (whether or not he leaves).

The Cardinals offseason review noted that Fowler & Pham are two of the team's offensive studs, while Stephen Piscotty is too talented and controllable to part with. That said, the team has even acknowledged that all three are probably better suited in a corner outfield role. How does this sort itself out?
Jeffrey Todd
2:25
One of the great mysteries of this baseball offseason. I see the Cards paring back some depth and likely trading one of Piscotty/Grichuk (if not also other outfielders and perhaps also Aledmys Diaz). Lots of ways Mo can go.

So many directions the Cardinals cal go this offseason. What do you think? I think Wade Davis would be great get. Get the cubs closer and lead off man in consecutive years.
Jeffrey Todd
2:25
Evidently I robbed my answer from Andy's question.
But yes, Wade Davis and also Greg Holland ought to be on the radar.
2:26
Not that taking them from the Cubs should factor in.

What's the next move for the Angels?
Jeffrey Todd
2:28
Another club with lots of possibilities. Of course, now that Upton is in the fold, there's less room to spend, but he also locks up the OF situation. Can see them adding at the infield corner and all manner of pitching. Might still have as much as 35 mil or so of payroll to work with (if my recent glance was correct and they push right up to the lux line).

Will the White Sox do anything this winter in terms of trades or free agents?  It seems to me they don't have much to do.
Jeffrey Todd
2:31
They have little on the books, especially if they end up trading Abreu and/or Avisail. That means opportunity. Now, the Phillies have sort of wasted a good bit of coin on short-term players, and perhaps the Sox won't be as aggressive. Plus, it isn't like they have that "hey maaaaybe we could even contend" thought in the back of the head just yet. But they could use a lil rotation depth, like a dozen relievers, and some bats, so I expect them to be opportunistic and look for value to keep fans interested and possibly buy trade returns.

Who do you see the Giants signing?
Jeffrey Todd
2:32
I will always answer any question I see from this inspired handle.
2:33
I think the biggest needs are CF/3B. Plenty of possibilities at the latter; mostly LoCain at the former (though Carlos Gomez and a few others are also on our T50). I like them for Cain but don't know that they will be going wild on multiple, lengthy contracts.
2:34
Top 50 is coming folks!
But please don't just abandon us!
Once it hits, I'll skip to the end of the questions so you can start verbally assaulting me for the things you don't like about it.

Best FA catcher options? Highest guaranteed deal to a FA catcher?
Jeffrey Todd
2:35
Lucroy is still tops in my mind. And I think I'm a little higher on him than the rest of the MLBTR team.
Otherwise, Castillo and Avila are both worthy of multi-year deals.

People love the contest, make it happen
Jeffrey Todd
2:36
Totally agree. I love it too. We love it. If it can happen in any kind of reasonable way, I think it will.
2:37
There's the list! I told you! I am an insider!!!

Top pitching candidates for the cubs? Both starters and relief
Jeffrey Todd
2:38
We have them going big. I actually think they will be in on Wade Davis, but not sure that sentiment was shared as much by others.
