What's up, Sunday night chat crew?  Let's take some questions as, somewhat incredibly, we're less than two weeks from Opening Day.

*crosses fingers*
will
7:22
Does Nashville  1. Get an expansion team  2. Get a current team  3. Get nothing
Mark P
7:24
The Nashville group is getting organization just in case #1 or #2 emerge as possibilities.  It isn't known yet whether a team could look to move, or if MLB will look into expansion any time soon.....the post-pandemic financial situation for the league (or society at large) is so up in the air that it's hard to predict
Aaron judge
7:24
Should I be worried I won’t get an extension since I am injury prone
Mark P
7:25
The Yankees have shied from extensions in general, as a matter of policy in the Hal Steinbrenner era: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/03/the-yankees-brief-history-of-co...
So against that backdrop, I'd bet against a long-term deal for Judge.  His injury history certainly doesn't help his case.

Wouldn't it be awesome to see Barry Bonds play in this 60 game season? Assuming he would play for SF, it would be fun to watch!
Mark P
7:27
Now THAT would generate a few headlines.  It's not happening, but it'd be fun to imagine...how many homers would Bonds hit, DH'ing every day? Over/under of five?
Barrelman
7:28
Do you think we might see teams like Boston or Anaheim with COVID rotation issues swing trades for starters soon or will teams with excess starters like Minnesota or Milwaukee hoard that depth given the unpredictable season ahead?
Mark P
7:29
I'm sure any team will listen to a good offer, but you have a point.....the old "no such thing as too much pitching" adage has never been more true in a year as unpredictable as this
Russell Martin
7:29
Anyone need a catcher?
Mark P
7:29
Giants fans: *raise hands*
Puig
7:30
Should I really consider Baltimore?
Mark P
7:30
I'd think at this point, Puig should be open to any MLB team interested in offering him a job
7:31
O's are as good an opportunity as any, especially since he can potentially play every day
John
7:32
Does Vlad Jr moving to 1st mean anything for Austin Martin?
Mark P
7:33
It's not like Vladdy was seen as a long-term answer at 3B anyway, so Martin might have ended up at the hot corner anyway regardless of whether or not Guerrero played third or first this season.

The Jays have enough flexibility with their young infielders that they can somewhat mix and match positions to see where everyone fits best.
Freeman health?
7:34
I hope he is okay.
I've heard Freddie Freeman is hit pretty hard with COVID symptoms. Any knews on his how he's doing, baseball aside?
Mark P
7:34
No real updates yet.  As expected, the Braves are keeping things private out of respect for Freeman.
OPS+?
7:35
Can someone explain OPS=
Mark P
7:36
It roughly indicates how far (or below) a hitter is from a league-average offense.
100 represents "Average"
Zak
7:37
Assuming Eovaldi pitches opening day for the Red Sox (w/ E-Rod out), who starts games 2 and 3?
Mark P
7:37
The plan right now seems to be Perez, Weber, and Brian Johnson as the 2-3-4 starters, and maybe an opener in the fifth spot
Bucs Fan
7:37
what can I look forward to this season?
Mark P
7:37
Tom Brady at quarterback!
7:38
Oh wait, wrong Bucs.  It'll be a good year to see how many of the young players might actually stick in this early stage of the rebuild.
More Bartolo
7:39
Have you heard anything about BVW’s job security if/when the Mets are sold? I’d think his short tenure would be heavily scrutinized by a new ownership group. Provided the Wilpons don’t Wilpon the sale up.
Mark P
7:40
A new owner usually wants to bring in their own people, but such factors will depend on how the Mets perform in 2020 (or maybe in 2021 depending on how long it takes to complete this sale), and how satisfied the new owners are how Van Wagenen has positioned the team for near and future success
Removal of Comments-Thanks
7:40
Team.  Thanks for removing comments on certain threads.   Too many people are failing to realize the seriousness of COVID-19 (a/k/a Corona Virus).
Mark P
7:42
The comments section was becoming as much of a chore for us to edit as it was for you all to read.  Hopefully the stricter commenting policy will help clear things up going forward.

Over/under wins this season? If they fail is Preller out?
Mark P
7:43
AJP is under contract through 2022, so even if the Padres totally fall apart, I'm not sure a change will be made given the totally unique circumstances of the season.  I could see Preller being given one more chance to get the Padres winning.
Wrigley
7:46
Does David Ross have too many friends on his squad to be impartial?
Mark P
7:48
I guess time will tell, but Ross is by all accounts a good leader.  If anything, he was known for laying down the law with teammates back in his playing days, so I'm sure he wouldn't hesitate to make a tough call.
Rangers29
7:48
If the Rays are (oddly) out of the crowded A.L WC race at the deadline, is Morton a trade piece?
Mark P
7:49
Potentially, though there's enough mutual respect between Morton and the Rays that I doubt they would trade him without his go-ahead.  Morton also has the added leverage of retiring if he didn't like his new destination, given how he has often discussed possibly hanging up the spikes after this season.
Cleveland

Your favorite potential new name if Dolan changes it? Buckeyes, Rockers, or something different
Mark P
7:50
I admit, I kind of like Spiders, but I may be influenced by being a big Spider-Man fan
