Welcome! Sorry for the delay. Having some technical difficulties, but seems OK now.

Are there any updates on Luke Hochevar? Will he play this year? If so, who does he sign with? Royals? Giants?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:36
Not really. Considering how bad some bullpens look early on, I'm guessing it's health-related and he's just not quite ready yet.

4:37
With the early struggles on defense and in the bullpen for the Bravos what's the ETA on players such as Albies & Minter?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:39
Minter missed some time in the spring and I think he's pitching in Hi-A now, so probably gonna be eased back in. At least a month or two before he's a consideration. Albies doesn't really have anywhere to play with Brandon Phillips in front of him. If the Braves fall out of the pennant race, I can see him soon after that. If not, could take an injury or a dismal performance by Phillips before Albies gets a shot.

Too early to throw the name of Jordan Montgomery for AL ROY. What line do you project for him?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:42
Not at all. A lot of his competition is still in the minors so he has a headstart. Only 4.2 IP today but 7 K and only 2 ER is a good sign that he can hold his own. Should have his ups and downs. As long as his downs don't get him sent to the minors, he could log close to 150 innings in the majors.

Will Melvin Upton Jr. find a spot on the Giants roster?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:45
I think so, but maybe I'm biased towards Upton. I was his biggest defender when the Padres were sitting him on the bench even though he was putting up good numbers in 2015. Finally got a chance to play everyday in 2016 and he had a career resurgence. Then he was traded to the Jays and Ezequiel Carrera was playing more than him. I honestly can't figure out why he didn't get more of a chance.

Will David Price pitch this year?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:47
Looks like he's on track to return at some point. I don't trust elbow injuries, though. Could affect his performance even if he avoids the DL once he returns.

How long do the Braves give Snitker to turn it around after starting season 1-6?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:49
He should have a long leash after the team's strong finish in '16. Would need to be a disastrous 2-3 months. A lot of time to turn it around.

4:49
Do you think Joc Pederson should sit against lefties? Kike doesn't look like a great upgrade, plus Pederson wasn't that bad in the Minors, he might need more time to adjust
AvatarJason Martinez
4:51
I believe he's started once or twice against LHP so far. 3 singles and 4 Ks in 7 plate appearances. Work in progress. But he is deserving.

Is Jesus Aguilar eligible for Rookie of the Year? If so, he could put himself in contention
AvatarJason Martinez
4:53
No, he exceeded his rookie limits already. Been around for awhile, so it's good to see him finally getting a chance. Even if he was eligible, would have a tough time in a part-time role. Would take an injury to Thames or a corner OF (Thames would move to OF in that case) for him to get regular ABs.

More surprised that the starting pitching has held its own through first ten games or Manny Margot red hot start?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:55
Starting pitching. Cosart and Lee putting up 0's at Coors Field! Jered Weaver getting hitters out with that 85 MPH fastball. It's only 10 games of 162, but it's better than anyone would've expected.
Dylan

Manny Margot looks great. Could be rookie of the year?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:57
Yeah, he looks comfortable out there. Already halfway to his HR total in AAA last season.
Padres' Front Office
4:58
Is anyone going to trade with us at the deadline?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:58
There are some disastrous bullpens out there and the Padres should have at least 4 relievers with value (Maurer, Buchter, Hand, Stammen, Capps) and possibly a starter or two. Preller will be busy.

Who is the bigger breakout candidate in Milwaukee? Keon Broxton or Domingo Santana
AvatarJason Martinez
5:00
Both capable of breakouts. Both can also be busts. Broxton could be a 20 HR, 30 SB guy. Just needs to avoid the long slump that will get him benched.

Holy cow, the Orioles clobbered the snot out of Steven Wright tonight...

When a knuckleballer doesn't have his best stuff, most teams will tee off.

What are the rangers going to do with there bullpen?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:05
Latest example of how a bullpen or rotation can quickly go from strength to weakness. They really need Dyson to figure it out. He was so good last season. Bush's shoulder hurts. Jeffress has looked pretty shaky. Diekman is out for a while. I'm only half-joking when I say that Andrew Cashner might be their late-inning savior when it's all said and done.

Rich Hill has already hit the DL......but is that a bad thing? Do you think Dodger MGT is going to use the 10 day DL to spell their starters and give Wood spot starts throughout the year???
AvatarJason Martinez
5:07
It's only a blister so that's not a bad thing. It's a recurring injury, which is bad. Dodgers are deep, so they can manage. Based on the last few days, it looks like teams aren't hesitating to use the 10-Day DL. In some cases, it's only 1 start missed.

James Paxton: 17-5, 3.38 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 170.1 IP, 172 K. 2.5 BB/9?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:09
This was my projection ... 14-11, 3.29 ERA, 176 IP, 171 K, 2.1 BB/9, 8.7 K/9. So I'm in agreement there. Needs to stay healthy, but looking like one of the top breakout candidates so far.

Does Marwin Gonzales take over for Gurriel in Houston?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:11
They paid a lot of $ for Gurriel. I think they'll give him some time. 3 hits yesterday. I think they like Marwin in his super-utility role. No reason to lock him into one position. If Gurriel really struggles for a month or two, AJ Reed could get another shot.
Brian
5:13
Any chance White Sox can flip one of Gonzalez, Holland or Shields (who is only making $10 mill a year)?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:14
The plan is to try and flip all 3. It's possible. Depends on how well they're doing.

Think it's possible that Finnegan gets traded this year?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:15
I'm sure the Reds will listen. But he has 5 years of club control. Might be more likely to explore a long-term deal.
Jacob
5:17
Alex Wood an attractive trade piece, no? Could a reunion with ATL work out?
