Happy Jonny Venters Day!
4:33
Some of you youngsters might not remember this, but Venters was one of the most dominant lefty relievers in the game about 3 Tommy John surgeries ago. Glad he finally made it back.

Acuña is 0-2. Biggest bust ever?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:34
Totally.
I saw the 1st ball almost went out to right center and then he lined out. Any guesses on his 3rd AB?
4:35
I'm guessing line drive double to LF.
Acuna Jr
4:35
Will I influence other big name free agents to come play in the ATL next year if so who?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:36
Not just Acuña. Freeman, Albies, Swanson and so much pitching on the way. And they should have $ to spend next offseason.
Pad Squad
4:36
Can the Padres PLEASE just get a guy who doesn't strike out a ton and walk very little?!
AvatarJason Martinez
4:37
They have him. His name is Luis Urias. I have his ETA as early 2019, but I think he has a chance to arrive much sooner.
Billy Beane
4:38
People should talk about Blake Treinen as an example of multi-inning closers more! A's have successfully been getting 4+ outs of him to end the game all year long...
AvatarJason Martinez
4:39
It's moving in that direction, but you really need at least 2-3 guys you can trust to close out a game. If Treinen (or any reliever) gets 4-5 outs, it usually takes 25+ pitches and they might not be available on back-to-back days.
4:40
Brewers are using Josh Hader that way, but they have a closer committee. If Hader was the "closer" and they didn't trust their other options, I don't think they would use for him for more than 1 inning as often.
4:41
Another Didi Gregorius HR! I think he's on pace for 50+ HR.

Yomer Sanchez or Reddick I need average and SB"s
AvatarJason Martinez
4:42
I like what Yolmer is doing and now he's in the No. 2 spot with Avisail on the DL. He's hitting .300 and capable of staying around there. Still not running much, but should be a 15-20 SB guy.

Who will benefit the most from Thames missing time?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:44
Probably Santana, but it really depends on how comfortable Braun is at 1B. He's only started there a couple times. If he's not, Jesus Aguilar will get the majority of at-bats while Thames is out.
Ace of Braves

Does Ozzie Albies still have his rookie status?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:45
Nope. He had close to 250 PAs last season. Can't have more than 130.

When do you predict Mitch Keller comes up to The Show?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:47
I think he's capable of helping by mid-season, but Pirates will probably be patient and hold off until early '19 if they're not in the playoff race. I think Nick Kingham gets a look soon. He was one of my "Knocking Down The Door" picks yesterday ... https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/04/knocking-down-the-door-adames-f...

What’s going on with the padres outfield when everyone gets healthy (can Franchy Cordero turn his tools into stardom?)
AvatarJason Martinez
4:52
Best OF right now is Pirela, Margot (as long as he breaks out of his slump soon) and Myers. Franchy is so talented and he gives them another lefty bat. I'm starting to think they'll let him learn on the job in the Majors and maybe start giving Pirela some more time at 2B.
4:54
It would be interesting to see what would happen if Franchy were to get 500+ PAs this season. Maybe .240/.285/.525 with 30 HR and 200 Ks.

It seems to me with each passing game, Morales is the odd-man put in Toronto.  Is there anyway they could get rid of him via trade?  How much salary would they have to eat?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:55
Just about all of it. DHs don't have much value unless they're elite hitters. If Vlad Jr. continues to show that he's too good for the Minors, the best way to get him at-bats in the Majors would be to take Morales out of the lineup.
Marlaf
4:56
is Honeywell in the picture this year?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:57
Nope. Tommy John surgery in June, so he probably won't be back until mid-season in '19.
Acuna Matata
4:58
Now that Acuna is up in the majors. How far do you think Willy Adames is from being called up to the rays?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:59
I think he's ready enough for that team. Maybe keep Adeiny around for to mentor him. He's been in AAA for more than a year and has more than held his own.
Central Rivals

Could we see Jordan Hicks and Josh Hader face each other as starting pitchers any time soon?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:01
I have a feeling they're in the bullpen to stay. Lots of SP depth in the upper minors for both teams so they can afford to keep those guys in the 'pen.
Pete S
5:01
Was Didi's rise expected this quickly? He is in a zone like no other, but he always seems to be clutch.
AvatarJason Martinez
5:03
I don't know about anyone else, but I wasn't expecting much more. He's in his 5th or 6th season. I thought he peaked in '17 (25 HR, .796 OPS).
Braves Chop
5:04
How early do you think Mike Soroka will be called up if he continues to dominate AAA?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:06
He's making a strong case, but might need to wait for a spot to open. Wisler is having another good outing. Gohara is just about ready. The other guys in the rotation have been good.
Nick
5:09
Who will be the next top prospect called up?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:10
Michael Kopech. I think he could benefit from a few more months in AAA, but the White Sox rotation is a mess.

Are Brock stewart and Andrew Toles expendable pieces for the Dodgers or are they important parts of the roster?
