I'll apologize ahead of time for any delays that occur if there are any free agent signings or trades involving an impact player. I'll be updating depth charts at Roster Resource if anything really important happens during this chat ... https://www.rosterresource.com/mlb-depth-charts/

Thoughts on the Kinsler trade?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:34
Let's wait to hear what they're trading to Detroit. Seemed like a perfect fit. Angels don't have the prospects to get an lineup regular under contract for more than 2-3 years, but they have enough to get a veteran who is under contract for 1 more year.
4:35
By the way, the Angels lineup looks really good ... https://www.rosterresource.com/mlb-los-angeles-angels/

would a yankees reliever be in the discussion of Dbacks with Drury?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:37
I can see that. Maybe Tommy Kahnle in a multi-player deal. Drury would likely be a short-term regular at 2B or 3B until Andujar/Torres are ready and then he'd be a utilityman.

Would you like the Padres as a fit for Yelich?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:40
I think 29 teams will be checking in with the Marlins. 5 years of club control at less than $60MM. Not too many teams will have the farm system/talent to get a deal done. Padres do. Not sure if they'd be willing to trade away the caliber of prospects it would take to get Yelich.

Do we know who was part of the Ozuna trade?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:42
SP Sandy Alcantara and OF Magneuris Sierra are the big names. They might be 1-2 in the Marlins' farm system now. Zac Gallen (AAA starting pitcher; could reach Majors in '18) and Daniel Castano (Low Minors starter) are the other 2 players.

Is machado a goner?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:44
I'm starting to sense that. Earlier in the offseason, it sounded like they wanted to add talent to the roster and compete for a playoff spot. But between Giancarlo to the Yankees and figuring out the cost on free agent targets, they might be leaning towards trading Machado now instead of waiting until July.

What do you think of the Rockies bullpen moves? And what next to upgrade the offense?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:47
Risky to give a big contract to any reliever, but they don't really have a lot of $ committed to the other areas of their roster so it makes sense to load up on veteran relievers. I don't have a problem with it, even if they bring back Holland. Their top 6 relievers would cost about $50MM in '18.

How well do you see Dee Gordon playing centerfield?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:48
If Billy Hamilton can do it, so can Dee. Both former shortstops with good baseball instincts. Whatever learning curve he has will be minimized because he can outrun his mistakes.

What starting pitcher do you think will the Yankees acquire? Greinke, Duffy, fulmer, cc, Cobb???? Anyone?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:50
I can see them re-signing CC and then making a splash on the trade market. Gerrit Cole makes a lot of sense. Maybe Danny Salazar. Maybe Danny Duffy.

Any way Cincy gets in the Yelich hunt?  A 3 way trade with the Giants involving Hamilton and Duvall would be interesting.  The Giants would love to have Duvall back and they like Hamilton's defense.
AvatarJason Martinez
4:53
Not really. For Yelich, I'm thinking a pair of elite prospects would headline the deal. SF doesn't have one. Cincy has 2 (Senzel, Hunter Greene) but I don't think they'd trade either at this time.

Are the  Cardinals done making moves in your opinion? What is latest on Machado
AvatarJason Martinez
4:55
Sounds like they wanted to add another impact bat (1B or 3B, maybe) and they still need a closer. They're far from being done.

So are the cardinals in on the Rays with archer/cologne/and Longoria.  Or are they focused on machado now?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:58
I think they're interested in all potential options. By trading Alcantara/Sierra, they gave away 2 of their best trade chips but they still have a lot of young talent to offer in a major deal ... Alex Reyes, Jack Flaherty, Luke Weaver, Harrison Bader, Tyler O'Neill. They can probably do one more big trade.

Gordon Ozuna and Stanton couldn't net 1 top 100 prospect. Thoughts?

Alcantara is one. Sierra is probably close and Jorge Guzman could be if he has a good season in '18.

Now that I got 2B taking care of, what’s next on my list?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:01
Starting pitching. Even if Ohtani's elbow doesn't give him problems, I think they need at least a mid-rotation guy who can give them 30 starts/180 IP. In the meantime, I wouldn't be surprised if they added a 3B. Moustakas is a good fit.

Are the Indians gonna trade Salazar for happ?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:04
I can see that, but not sure Cubs would give up 6 years of Happ for 3 years of Salazar, who missed time due to elbow pain in '17. Indians would have to balance it out somehow.

Could the Yankees really be content with Torres and Andujar?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:06
Not to start the season. They'll probably sign a stop-gap to play 3B and then count on Torreyes/Wade/veteran free agent to hold it down at 2B. I think they're very comfortable to go with Torres/Andujar around mid-season, if they're needed.

What are he chances the twins get cole and darvish
AvatarJason Martinez

I don't think they'll get both. Very confident that they'll get a frontline starter.

Are you giants going to make any moves? Seems like everything is passing them buy. Heard rumors of Hamilton and Bruce, which is a little depressing.
AvatarJason Martinez
5:10
"Everything" has pretty much just been relief pitchers signings. There are so many position player options on the free agency/trade markets and Giants are expected to fill an OF spot and 3B with good players.

HI Does Texas have interest trading Shin-Soo Choo for Jordan Zimmermann or Ian Kennedy? Also Do you think Jurickson Profar and Low level prospect interest enough Boston to trade Jackie Bradley to Texas? With Dustin Pedroia injured Boston is need of 2nd baseman.
AvatarJason Martinez
5:13
Sure. Choo for a pitcher with a big contract is a possibility. I'm sure the Rangers would prefer to acquire one who was good in '17 (Greinke) so I think Zimmermann/Kennedy would be options later in the offseason.
5:15
Red Sox like Marco Hernandez as a short-term option at 2B until Pedroia returns. I also think Bradley is worth a lot more than that. And I really want Profar to get a chance to finally play everyday. Dude was No. 1 prospect in baseball as a SS and has never had a chance to be an everyday SS.
