Welcome. I spoke too soon last week when I said that a potential flurry of signings/trades before Spring Training had passed us by. And the fun isn't over. Arrieta, Lynn, Cobb, Holland, Moustakas, LoMo, Walker, Lucroy, CarGo all remain unsigned.

How many starts do you see Corbin Vurnes making?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:33
I have Burnes projected to make 9 starts. I think he could get the call as early as June if he's needed.
4:34
By the way, I now have some of my '18 projections (PA, HR, SB, BA, OBP, SLG; GS, IP, Sv, H, BB, K) on the depth charts ... https://www.rosterresource.com/mlb-milwaukee-brewers/

Should the Orioles persue Moustakais and or Cobb/Lynn. Still under last years payroll
AvatarJason Martinez
4:35
If they have any chance of sticking with the Red Sox and Yankees, they need more starting pitching.
4:36
They also need Trumbo and Davis to bounce back. They also need Bundy/Gausman to take a step forward and they need the pre'17 version of Tillman. It would also help a lot if they signed CarGo. They need a lot to go right.

Who is my right fielder?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:36
As of today, that would be Colby Rasmus.
4:37
He's in camp on a MiLB deal. Not sure if they're just taking a flyer on him or if they're confident that he can still hit. Like I said, CarGo would be a nice fit in that lineup.

How could the Giants stay under the luxury tax, and will they?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:39
Signing one of the top free agent setup men (Tony Watson) for $3MM/season helped. I don't think they'll spend much more. They might be done.
Pads fan
4:39
Adding Hosmer doesn't change the fact that the Pads will need a third baseman in order to contend in 2020. Who should it be?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:41
Too early to tell. A lot can happen. But I agree that they'll, at the least, add one a legitimate bat (probably a 3B) and a frontline starting pitcher to be the final pieces of a very good team (probably 2020). A lot depends on how many of the starting pitcher prospects pan out (there are a lot of them), as well as Tatis/Urias.

Healy and Erasmo are hurt, does Dipoto do anything more?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:45
Nothing major. He's made so many minor acquisitions since he's been the GM and that has resulted in an abundance of depth. Vogelbach or Ford can step in at 1B and they have several decent SPs who I currently don't have projected to make the team. If Erasmo isn't ready to start the season, Miranda, Moore and Povse would likely be next in line.

I heard maliky cabera is going to pirates is this to
AvatarJason Martinez
4:47
I thought they'd be a fit, but they've brought in Daniel Nava and Michael Saunders on MiLB deals and acquired Bryce Brentz. Those moves shouldn't prevent them from adding a solid hitter like Melky, but they might just stand pat. Austin Meadows might be ready for the Majors by mid-season.

Is Mike Rizzo actually content with starting Fedde or Cole as the #5 and waiting for Joe Ross to get healthy or do they make a move?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:49
Even if he was, which I doubt, they still need to add to the rotation depth. Ross isn't likely to return in '18.
Matt Klentak
4:49
Do I pull the trigger and sign Jake Arrieta?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:51
Yes. I'm guessing he'll get a front-loaded 4-5 year deal with an opt out after 2 seasons. If the Phillies think they're close enough to contention and they believe Jake will help the team's young pitchers, they should go for it. They should be a Wild Card contender with Arrieta.

Quick: Hype or no Hype: Ohtani slash line and Pitching Line this year will be...
AvatarJason Martinez
4:55
.248/.313/.450 in 206 PAs; 3.44 ERA, 161 K in 133 IP. Check it out here ... https://www.rosterresource.com/mlb-los-angeles-angels/
4:56
Lots of buzz about his hitting ability. But I'm skeptical that he'll be able to do both successfully. I think pitching will his main focus and the hitting will lag behind.
Don Draper
4:58
Matt Chapman or Matt Olson who has the better year?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:58
I'm predicting big things for both. Olson a bit more offensive production, but Chapman's defense evens things out ... https://www.rosterresource.com/mlb-oakland-athletics/

Think Matt Strahm makes Padres rotation out of Spring? Any thoughts on how all that shakes out?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:00
I do not. Makes sense to see if he can be a SP, but they'll figure that out in AAA. I think they know he can be a really good late-inning reliever and that's where he'll probably end up once he's needed there.
Jays fan
5:00
Jays should sign Lucroy to a one year deal so he can bounce back in a hitters ballpark, thoughts?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:01
He can't bounce back if he's not playing regularly. Russ Martin would still get a lot of at-bats, maybe even the majority. Not a lot of options for him, though.
Wvpirate
5:02
Don't forget Neil Walker. Wish he never was traded from the Pirates. But where do you see Neil, in Milwaukee?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:04
Probably. Where else does he fit? Tigers? Royals? Rays? All non-contenders who probably won't want to spend $.
Tim
5:04
Andujar start the year in AAA now?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:06
Most likely. Only 250 PAs in AAA last season. I also think Gleyber is ahead of him. So Drury likely to be at 3B and Wade/Torreyes at 2B until Gleyber is ready early in the season.
Kyle
5:07
There seems to be too few landing spots for 1st baseman.... Where does LoMo end up?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:10
Good question. KC seems like the best fit (maybe the only fit) and they're not willing to meet his current asking price. I'm sure they're just waiting for his price to drop. I don't see any other options for him. And that sucks after he hit 38 HR.

Who is gonna be the next young arm to break into the rotation for the A’s?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:11
I think Puk is very close. He could force their hand this season, but I think they'll hold off until early '19 unless they're in contention and they think he can help.
Austin Hays

With the signing of Colby Rasmus am I now the odd man out come Opening Day?
