Welcome! Here's the new Dodgers lineup projection ... 1. Joc Pederson, LF   2. Justin Turner, 3B   3. Manny Machado, SS   4. Cody Bellinger, 1B   5. Matt Kemp, RF   6. Max Muncy, 2B   7. Yasmani Grandal, C   8. Chris Taylor, CF
Pretty good, right?

Britton, Hand will have large markets in trade. Who is more likely and where?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:40
Britton is more likely because he's a rental. Orioles have no reason not to trade him. Should be affordable. Contenders that really need a late-inning reliever ... ARZ, ATL, BOS, CHC, CLE, HOU, LAD, PHI.
4:41
And I can probably make a case for every other contender. Lots of relievers expected to be traded, but remember that the price tag will be very high on Iglesias, Hand and any others with 2+ years of club control. Not sure which teams are desperate enough to pay the price for a reliever.

Who will the Mets trade before the deadline? Familia? Cabrera? Wheeler?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:42
Yes. Yes. Yes. Those are the 3 obvious trade chips. I think the deGrom rumors will heat up. Not sure Mets will pull the trigger, but I think the chances have increased over the last few weeks.

Who are the 5 prospects being shipped to Baltimore in return for Machado?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:45
OF Yusniel Diaz is the key to the deal. He's the No. 84 prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline. Could be in the Majors next season. Rylan Bannon (3B/2B) is putting up huge numbers in Hi-A. Dean Kremer (SP) has also been outstanding. Could also be in the Majors in '19. Zach Pop (RP) was a 7th Rd pick in '17 and already in AA. And Breyvic Valera gives them some INF/OF depth. Not sure if he's anything more than a bench guy, but Orioles could give him a long look in August/September.

Really no May, Santana, or Alvarez? What a joke
AvatarJason Martinez
4:47
It is a rental, after all. I'm guessing they really like Yusniel and it doesn't sound like Phillies, Yankees, etc. were willing to give up any of their best prospects.

Syndergaard for Andujar Frazier and Sheffield? Who says no
AvatarJason Martinez
4:49
I don't think it's enough for Syndergaard. Maybe closer to what it would take for deGrom. 1 extra year of club control makes Syndergaard more valuable.

What is in your opinion the best upgrade the a's can do?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:51
Bring Tyson Ross back to Oakland.
4:52
I would never count them out from doing something bigger, though. But adding a SP and maybe a late-inning reliever makes the most sense.

4:52
Does Wilson Ramos' injury hurt his value?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:53
Yep. Not expected back until after the deadline so a team gets a player coming back from injury with less than 2 months left in the regular season.

Is Joe Jimenez the worst all star of 2018?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:55
I'd say least deserving, although he's having a good season. Just many players, including relievers, who are having better seasons.
Nick
4:56
What are the CF options for Seattle and Cleveland to trade for?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:58
Adam Jones. Maybe Leonys Martin. I didn't think Kevin Pillar would be traded before his injury. Travis Jankowski is a possibility.

so Puig is a bench piece when hes activated?
AvatarJason Martinez

Looks that way. Joc Pederson and Chris Taylor have both been really good over the past 2 months. Not sure they would go away from Pederson-Taylor-Kemp.
Gavin
5:01
Hand and Stammen to the Indians for Mejia and McKenzie?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:02
Indians wouldn't give up both and I don't even know if they'd give up one of those guys for a reliever(s). Padres will ask for them, though. I think the Indians are desperate for relief help, but probably not that desperate.
AJ Preller
5:02
Should I lower my asking price for Hand, seeing that my Padres are going nowhere fast?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:03
Nope. Padres are a bad team in 2018 just as everyone expected them to be. Doesn't mean they aren't going in the right direction. Trading Hand only makes sense if a team pays a high price to get him. Or else the Padres are happy keeping him for the next 3+ seasons.

What do the Astros do with Tony Kemp? Seems like a valuable piece
AvatarJason Martinez
5:05
Don't see him getting another chance as a regular with Houston. Question is whether he's impressed other teams enough. Could be a trade chip.

Adam Conley to Houston...good for all involved
AvatarJason Martinez
5:07
Astros could use a lefty reliever and Conley should be much cheaper than Brad Hand. Doesn't have a long track record of success, though.  So if a World Series contender (HOU, LAD, CLE) really wants a late-inning lefty reliever, Conley might be risky.

5:08
Would it be smart for the Yankees to go all in for DeGrom?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:09
They have the resources to make a splash and starting pitcher is their biggest (and maybe their only) need. Seems like a good plan.
Nick
5:09
What do the Dodgers have left, prospect-wise, to use in other trades?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:11
Plenty. Yadier Alvarez, Alex Verdugo, Gavin Lux, Dustin May, Andrew Toles all come to mind. They also have one of the top catching prospects in baseball (Keibert Ruiz - 19 yr old in AA) if they want to bring in another impact player.

JASON TALK ME OFF THE LEDGE... why am I not including sixto into this deal so I can get a GENERATIONAL talent like manny ?! there isn’t a prospect in the Phillies system I wouldn’t give up to get manny and give us an upper hand on a long term deal. Didn’t we learn from making Dom Brown , Carrassco and drabek “untouchable “
AvatarJason Martinez
5:15
I think they were hopeful that they would be contenders in 2018, but probably had 2019-2023 as a more realistic window for World Series contention. So I think they're more than satisfied to be where they are right now and won't do anything to greatly affect their 2019-23 window. I don't think they'd give up their best prospect(s) for any rental.
Doesn't mean they won't do anything. Just premature to think they are 1 impact player away. I could see them doing something like that next July.

Am I going to be given a chance to play everyday now that Matheny is out of the picture?
