Welcome. 7.2 shutout innings for Bartolo. Another save for Bud Norris. The Reds have won both of Matt Harvey's starts. The 1st Place Pirates won again. Just as we all would've expected on May 16th.

What's your letter grade on Giancarlo's start to his Yankees career?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:37
He's healthy. Pretty much the same numbers as this time last season. Productive and he hasn't really gotten hot yet. And the Yankees have the best record in baseball. I'll give him a B+.
Micah R.
4:37
$14m for Greg Holland. He has yet to have a successful appearance. What is your take on him? Is he going to right the ship or is he going to be a wasted $14million?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:38
I think he'll be fine. Not a good idea to miss spring training and rush to the Majors after a few MiLB appearances. I don't see him taking the job back from Norris anytime soon. That guy is legit.
4:40
STL was the only team that offered him $14MM. So there obviously wasn't a lot of interest in paying big $$$ to a "proven closer". His rocky start will make it more likely that this trend will continue.

The blue Jay's will have to promote Guerrero at some point right? At least to triple A. He keeps killing double A pitchers
AvatarJason Martinez
4:42
Yeah. This is getting ridiculous. Vlad Jr's going to hurt one of those poor Double-A kids. I'm sure they're discussing whether he goes to AAA or the Majors in the very near future.
Austin Riley
4:43
When will I make the show?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:45
You are on my preliminary list for "Knocking Down The Door", which should be published on Friday. I'm having second thoughts, though. I think the Braves want to give Bautista a few weeks to prove that he can be their everyday 3B. And Riley is only 21 with 8 games on AAA experience and a lot of strikeouts.

Austin Riley and Kolby Allard have been on fire...any chance they get called up before September?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:47
Yes. Yes. It would probably take an injury, but Allard could be next in line for that rotation. FYI - Pitchers get hurt often so his chances are good..

Travis Jankowski needs to lead-off for the foreseeable future, right?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:50
At the least, the Padres will be extra patient with the oft-injured Wil Myers so Jankowski gets plenty more at-bats to prove that he's more than a 4th OF. He looked this good for a stretch two years ago, I believe, but he hasn't hit much aside from that. His approach has been really perfect for his skill set. Working the count. Rarely pops up. And dude catches everything in his vicinity.

Will I find a decent reliever, or will the 8th and 9th innings continue to be a disaster?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:52
I think they'll trade for a reliever. Olson and Goody deserved a shot after what they did last season and Matt Belisle was really good with the Twins last season. But they really miss Bryan Shaw.
Drew Pomeranz
4:54
Should I be worried with the diminished volocity or do you think I’ll be back on track soon?
AvatarJason Martinez
4:56
Never a good sign. He's had a few different arm injuries. Seems like his turnaround with the Padres a few years back was tied to him throwing his curveball more than ever. Probably not great for his long-term health.
Seattle fan

What moves do you see JD. Making if not major upgrades he is DONE.
AvatarJason Martinez
4:58
I think he'll add an OF or 2B well before the trade deadline. He'll target an 8th inning reliever in July, if not sooner.

Is there any chance the Phillies don’t sign one of Harper or Machado?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:01
Yes, because several other big market teams will be in good enough shape financially to make a significant offer. They have the resources to get a lot done. But that doesn't mean they should over-bid for any player.
Bunglers
5:02
On a scale of move no one to fire sale, what do you think the Os front office actually does?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:04
I think they're open to moving everyone and should move at least. Machado, Adam Jones, Zach Britton (if he makes it back by mid-season) and Brad Brach. I think they'll listen on Schoop, Gausman and Bundy, but they'll probably wait until the offseason so they can engage more teams.
Geoff
5:06
Would you give AJ Pollock a mega deal (100 mil +)?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:07
Probably not. I believe he's had one season where he avoided injury. For a guy entering his age-31 season, it's risky. I think he'll get something in the 4 yr, $80MM range.

Why do you hate the cubs?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:09
I cheered for the Cubs to break their curse in '16. I loved Harry Caray. And I'm a big fan of Leon Durham because he allowed Tim Flannery's grounder to go through his legs in the '84 NLCS.

What kind of package will it take for the yanks to get Fulmer?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:12
Two of Justus Sheffield, Albert Abreu, Clint Frazier, Estevan Florial and another mid-level prospect. Also might need to throw in Brandon Drury.
Orioles Top 5
5:13
Who gets the shot for the 5th rotation spot in Bmore....Miguel Castro or David Hess?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:14
Castro is out of options and has a higher ceiling. I think they need to figure out now if he's capable of being more than a middle reliever. Hess will get his shot eventually.

5:14
Who's the better fireman - Archie Bradley or Josh Hader?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:16
Nobody better than Hader right now. But it's close. A lot of good late-inning guys who aren't their team's top closing option.
Melchez
5:16
Big Roman Quinn fan... does he have a future with the Phils?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:17
Yes. And soon. I think he's a better option than a few of their bench guys now. Probably won't get a chance to play regularly, but he could be a valuable reserve.
Derek
5:18
Who has a better shot at being shipped to Seattle?  Starlin Castro or Scooter Gennett?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:19
Pretty sure they'd rather have Gennett. Not sure they would want to take on enough of Castro's salary to make it worth if for the Marlins.
Dylan
5:19
What do you you see the padres starting nine in 2020 be? A lot of competition right now but not sure who will stick
AvatarJason Martinez
5:21
CF Margot, 2B Urias, 1B Hosmer, RF Myers, LF Cordero, SS Tatis, 3B (TBD) C Hedges
