Thanks for stopping by. I've started working on Roster Resource's offseason Payroll pages. Should be done by the end of the week. Fun fact: the Phillies have less than $7MM on the books for '18 and not many players eligible for arbitration ... https://www.rosterresource.com/mlb-philadelphia-phillies-info/

Cleveland’s rotation in the postseason? Who will be out, Tomlinson or Clevinger or Salazar?
Jason Martinez
4:36
Unless Salazar is really good tomorrow, I think we can scratch him off the list. Clevinger and Tomlin have both been very good.
Melissa

Astros' game 3 starter is....
Jason Martinez
4:38
Brad Peacock, the guy that was on the bubble for a roster spot to start the season.
Grant

Which lefty reliever will astros put on their playoff roster?
Jason Martinez
4:40
I think Liriano is definitely on there and, depending on how many pitchers they carry, Sipp could also make it.
Terrance G.
4:40
Wow peacock over mccullers????
Jason Martinez
4:41
Can't rely on a guy who has barely pitched in the 2nd half. Peacock is deserving, though, even if a healthy McCullers is a better option.

Predict this year's World Series matchup? And who wins?
Jason Martinez
4:42
Indians beat Dodgers.
Jay
4:43
Likelihood that Yangervis Solarte starts 2018 in a different uniform?
Jason Martinez
4:45
50/50. I think he'll be available, but it really depends on what kind of offers the Padres get. He can hit. He's versatile, cheap and a good clubhouse leader on a young team. Asking price might be higher than teams are willing to pay.

We have a lot of young pitching talent that I think some people are underestimating (UPDATE: Last 20 starts by #Reds under the age of 25
113 IP, 2.46 ERA, 115 K, 46 BB, 6 HR(!))  If we resign Cozart, could we trade for a real CF with Scooter and Duvall with a young arm? Possible targets?
Jason Martinez
4:51
A few CF options available in free agency ... Jarrod Dyson, Carlos Gomez and Jon Jay. Trade candidates: Joc Pederson comes to mind. I know there are a few others.

Will the Dbacks bullpen be good enough to go deep in the playoffs?
Jason Martinez
4:54
That would be my concern, although they really only need 3-4 guys that they can rely on. Rodney has been mostly good. Bradley has been great. Hernandez/De La Rosa should be fine. Maybe one other guy needs to step up. Jimmie Sherfy has been impressive this month (6 IP, 0 R). One of their 5 starters can pitch out of the bullpen, too.

Kieth law posted the due to outfield surplus braves might trade ender inciarte. Do you see this happening
Jason Martinez
4:56
I think they'll try to trade Kemp or Markakis and will be open to trading Inciarte, but the price will be very high. I think Markakis is the likeliest to go because it will be easiest to move him due to production, durability, contract.

Who says no? Machado for Acuna, Allard and one more Braves 20-30
Jason Martinez
5:00
I think Acuna has reached "pretty much untouchable" status.  If Machado had 3 years of club control instead of 1, I think it would be at least possible.

Why is Rendon not getting the MVP luv???
Jason Martinez
5:06
I think he will be in the conversation. Lower HR totals are still going to keep him from winning because HRs are more popular with the mainstream media. Defense, OBP, total bases, etc. aren't discussed enough. They're discussed more than 10-20 years ago, but still not enough.

How do the Nats deal w/ robles next year?  does he break camp?
Jason Martinez
5:08
They don't have to rush him. They're set with Harper, Eaton, Taylor and Goodwin. Robles should start the season in AAA and his production will dictate when he gets the call.

5:08
Do you see the Mariners trading vogelbach? There are rumors about them looking for a first baseman in the offseason. Or do they keep him in AAA, and once Cruz leaves after 2018, they give him a chance?
Jason Martinez
5:10
Not a lot of 1B/DH jobs available so his trade value can't be all that great. He has an option left so I think he'll stick around.
Charles R
5:11
What controllable frontline pitcher moves via trade in the offseason?
Jason Martinez
5:13
Indians can trade one of their guys. Not Kluber, but one of Carrasco, Salazar, Bauer or Clevinger.
Dudd
5:15
I believe the 6 man rotation will be the norm in 3-4 seasons. Do you think any team will use it in '18?
Jason Martinez
5:17
A lot of teams have used it on and off this season and teams also take advantage of the 10-Day DL by having a pitcher miss 1-2 starts. I don't think a team will stick to it for 162 games unless it's a very young rotation like the Rockies have this season. It's rare for a team to have 3-4 rookies so can't really see it happening. When you have a true staff ace, you want to use him every 5 days.

Cam Bedrosian for Ceasar Hernandez have any legs or does Tyler Skaggs for Hernandez get it done.
Jason Martinez
5:18
I don't think Bedrosian or Skaggs is a conversation starter for Hernandez. Injury concerns with both players. Could be part of a bigger deal, though.

With the Giants offensive struggles, do you think they?re gonna go for power hitting outfielders??? i.e. Stanton, Upton, or both? And you think they?re willing to break the bank even more for them?
Jason Martinez
5:22
I think they'll target an OF and I think they'd want to add some power, but I don't think they are going to break the bank. There has been talk of Denard Span moving to LF so maybe they target a CF (Carlos Gomez, Jarrod Dyson) who won't cost nearly as much as Martinez/Upton in Free Agency. Lorenzo Cain would be a nice fit and he probably won't be as costly, but still might be out of their range.  They have so much $ tied up in their core players.

5:25
What do you see the Phillies doing with all that available money?
Jason Martinez
5:25
$100,000,000,000,000 contract extension for Rhys Hoskins.
5:27
In all seriousness, I think they'll be aggressive this offseason, but I'm sure they're targeting Harper/Machado after next season.

How do you see the National League West shaking out in the next year or 2? Are my Padres there?
Jason Martinez
5:31
I think they'll be a .500 team in 2019 (would be the 1st time in 12 years) and a serious contender in 2020. A lot can happen, but I think this organization is due for some breaks. i.e. Fernando Tatis Jr. becomes a star by age 21.
