Gavin Lee
6:06
Hey folks, welcome to another chat.
6:07
Apologies on the lack of one last week, I was in a wedding for a good friend of mine.
6:08
I may have to bolt at some point if a big story breaks, but we'll try to go the full hour. We'll get started as soon as a few questions accumulate.
Quintin
6:14
If this Galcheynuk for Pollack deal comes to fruition, does it lead Bergevin to turn and grab another forward? Because it makes zero sense to take away from an already anemic offence.
Gavin Lee
6:14
Which deal is that?
6:16
I'm legitimately trying to figure out what you mean.
The only two names I can think of are Brett Pollock and Roman Polak, neither of which I've heard connected to Galchenyuk.

The Duchene rumors seem to be very quiet for now. Do you see the probability of Duchene  staying in Colorado going up or is the calm before the trade?
Gavin Lee
6:17
I think this is the calm before the trade.
6:18
It always seemed unlikely for him to just play a game or two in Colorado. If he was going to start the season on the ice, why not let him build up his value a bit with a better team around him.
He's looked pretty sharp.
Friedman said yesterday (or maybe Tuesday?) that he still believes Duchene wants a fresh start.
6:19
To address the question above in broad terms, Montreal should probably be interested..but it would cost them another defense prospect. Not exactly something they can stomach.
Ed
6:20
Are the Kings this good, or their opponents to date that bad?
Gavin Lee
6:20
Little of column A...
Little of column B..
They've always had the ability to defend.
Allowing nine even strength goals in six games is no easy feat.
6:21
But their offense is going to have trouble winning games for them, especially now that Carter is out.
The worry is that the team will overreact and go get someone to replace him, spending more draft capital or prospects.
They're not a cup contender (though doubting Los Angeles has not paid off in the past).
6:22
OH!
6:23
I got the one at the top. He meant Ryan Pulock.
Quintin
6:23
Pollock from the islanders, young defenceman
Gavin Lee
6:23
Haha, yeah it clued in right as you did that.
6:24
Alright, so that rumor I think grew out of Friedman's article too.
6:25
All he said was that Bergevin was scouting ahead, Pulock hadn't played yet and that they are a good fit on paper.
I don't think anyone has actually reported that a deal is even being discussed.
That said, it does seem like an interesting fit.
6:26
Pulock clearly has the talent to play in the NHL right now, and Montreal has a big need for youth and mobility on the back end.
The Islanders could use another forward, but they have to be careful not to get the wrong one. If everything blows up this winter and Tavares ends up leaving, sending young defense out for talented but inconsistent forward help doesn't do much for your rebuild
6:29
Your first point, about taking a talented scoring player out of Montreal's bad offense...it's true. But Galchenyuk is so obviously not a fit there, that moving him might be the only move at this point.
Jim
6:29
How 'bout those Golden Knights!  Any word on moves to get Theodore (also crushing it) out of AHL purgatory?
Gavin Lee
6:30
How 'bout them indeed!
One of the best stories of the young season.
Vegas continues to talk to teams about their glut of defensemen, but no one wants the ones they're trying to sell
6:31
I wrote about this the other day, but I also am not sold that Vegas is in any rush to get Theodore up.
If they're winning, what's the rush? He's not going to stagnate down there, and every day he doesn't perform at the NHL level they save money on his next contract.
Charlie
6:33
Anything on the pens and the need for a 3rd line center
Gavin Lee
6:33
Dreger just made a Pittsburgh-Galchenyuk connection, which is new
