Hey folks. Welcome to another chat!
I'll let some questions roll in before getting started.
Ben F

What's the deal with duby? How long is he out
Gavin Lee
6:09
He broke his orbital bone in that fight against Kassian.
He's out for six weeks.

6:09
is it time to finally trade big buff?
Gavin Lee
6:09
I'm not sure why you'd want to break up the Jets right now, they finally look like a contender.
6:10
His injury notwithstanding.
6:11
Also, he has a full no move right now.
Tre
6:11
Do you know if Edmonton is the only team in on Mrazek?
Gavin Lee
6:11
They're definitely not the only team in, in fact it seems like their interest has waned.
I don't think anyone is really "in" right now though, despite the passing interest that Custance is reporting.
He's a hard guy to acquire.

Assuming the worst for the Habs to finish 2017, how does Max Pacioretty to the Blues for Robert Thomas or Tage Thompson, a 1st and filler sound? Or are the Blues looking for a cheaper option trade-wise?
Gavin Lee
6:12
They could afford to bring on Pacioretty, but I'm not sure they'd look for a one-year guy if they were to deal one of those studs.
6:13
If they go after a rental this year they'll have to move out money (I'd assume Gunnarsson) but not sure Montreal will give up in time.
(I'm also not sure if they should)

Is toews contract the worst in the nhl? At the time completely worth it but he hasn’t played like a 10.5 mil a year player in some years
Gavin Lee
6:14
Definitely not the worst in the league, and some would tell you he's still worth it because of things outside point production.
I don't love that side, but I also don't know what Toews is like in the room.
6:15
I don't even think he's the worst contract on the team though (Seabrook).

to extend my question is it time to trade big buff, i am meaning guy hasn't scored he is a turn over machine and he isn't getting any younger, i think get someone younger i think they would be just fine with trouba, myers poolman
Gavin Lee
6:16
I have a hard time believing they wouldn't take a big step backwards swapping Byfuglien for Poolman, but you're right that they have depth on the right side.
6:17
He won't be traded this year though, as he has a no-move and the Jets are winning.

FWIW Pacioretty isn’t a rental, still a year and a half left on his deal at $4.5 million. I imagine he’s the top trade candidate if the Habs don’t finish strong to close out 2017 or don’t add a top 2 centre or two.
Gavin Lee
6:18
Yeah that answer was a little mis-worded. I meant they could definitely afford to bring him on in the summer, for his last year (2018-19), but if they are going to use those big trade chips it likely won't be a one-year guy in the summer.
6:19
If Thomas or Thompson are in the deal, it'll be for a younger, longer-term option I would think. They both aren't that far from making an impact themselves.

Why are the BU Terriers so mediocre?  So much talent top to bottom, seems hard to believe they are sub .500.  Is that just the way college hockey works?
Gavin Lee
6:21
Sometimes college hockey can be weird because of schedules, and maturity of athletes. Still, you have to think BU's start is disappointing, given how loaded they still are.

6:22
Good evening.  Should we expect a couple of trades before the holiday freeze?
Gavin Lee
6:22
I'm not sure anything is imminent, but there is usually some movement just before the freeze.

6:23
Who has the assets for Karlsson, if he were to be traded?
Gavin Lee
6:23
Lots of teams have the prospect/pick assets, not a lot have the cap space and desire. Remember that even before his next mega deal, he's still a $6.5MM cap hit.
6:24
If there is any real movement on Karlsson, it'll happen right before the deadline. Deals of that magnitude take time.
Bill
6:24
I would think Ryan Spooner's contract is the worst in the nhl? Hence the demotion today...
Gavin Lee
6:24
Beleskey was waived today, if that's what you mean. His deal is certainly in contention.
Tim
6:25
who are the Penguins targeting as a 3rd line center?
Gavin Lee
6:25
Not sure exactly, but Rutherford is steaming right now and sounds about ready to make a big splash.
6:26
It's not like there are a ton of real impact centers on the market though.
Bill
6:26
How safe is Marc bergevin's job right now?
