Not at all, I always have the time to reinforce just how insane it is Mogilny isn't in the Hall.

Not just for his on-ice production, which was obviously elite, but for what he meant to the game. Ovechkin doesn't become the greatest goal-scorer of all time without him.

And yeah, I'd consider Elias a true snub. Not a borderline guy for me, he should be in. Over 1,000 points while playing almost solely through the dead puck era is an accomplishment.

Bowman, Quenneville, and McIssac are free to hire now. Which of the three is actually worth the lash back?

Right now? None of them. The NHL has displayed a woeful lack of transparency in terms of what programs they've actually participated in to ensure they understand the gravity of how they mishandled the situation in Chicago. If anyone is trying to suss out the likelihood of a similar incident to the Aldrich allegations occurring under their watch, the only thing teams have to go off is the league saying "trust me, bro."

With some more clarity into what they've actually done over the past two-plus years, then Quenneville would be the only one based on merit – he's an all-time great and was still doing very solid work with the Panthers before stepping away. But nothing about how Bowman or McIsaac ended their tenures in Chicago intrigues me.

Yes, they would. The lottery rules only block you from *advancing* in the draft order more than twice in a five-year period. If you finish second-worst in the league three years in a row and retain the pick three years in a row via the lottery draw, that's permissible.

They didn't advance to draft Levshunov, only Bedard. And I believe that five-year window starts from the rule change in 2022.

Hearing a rumor about Las Vegas and Marner. What do you think they can move for him? Maybe Karlsson and Theodore?

No fire to that smoke yet, but it's certainly been smoking for a while.

It would work cap-wise. About a $200K increase for Toronto. Marner costs $10.9MM next season, Karlsson and Theodore's cap hits combine for $11.1MM. I wonder if Vegas would need to attach a second- or third-round pick to get that across the finish line, though.

What big moves can we see winnipeg making before the season begins? How much is ehlers worth in a trade? Ehlers and mcgroatty for necas and a 2nd?

Ehlers and Nečas have similar value in my mind, so I'd surmise you could get a first-rounder in that deal instead of a second.

It comes down to whether Carolina and Winnipeg allow their players to talk extensions with the other parties before the trade. If they do, there could be more pieces attached to that deal.

What do you see the Lightning doing with their remaining cap money? Obviously signing Moser is priority #1 but I see a need for a backup goalie

I do too, but they're a little late to the party. The only real options left are Martin Jones, Kevin Lankinen and Antti Raanta. No one is signing Hart and Ivan Prosvetov is all but confirmed to be heading back to Russia.

I'm not a Johansson fan, but I think I'd rather have him at league minimum than signing any of those guys for seven figures.

They've got $4.1MM in space with a nearly full roster. Moser should probably cost in the low 3s. Enough for another league minimum guy, likely another forward. Potentially Gage Goncalves there... or another depth UFA signing.

But I think they're done with anything meaningful.

If he was on the move, I think it would have happened by now. Nothing much on that front for a couple of weeks, which suggests they're willing to let this play out a bit.

Edmonton needs to shed a deal to be cap-compliant after their UFA spree. Wonder if they can offload Evander Kane.

And Laine, too, although nothing's happening there until he's out of the PAP.

If you were the Ducks, and were going to make a big trade, who are a couple people you would target?

I would not make a big trade if I were the Ducks, for one. Give it another year, see what another year of development for Carlsson, McTavish, Mintyukov, and Gauthier's rookie season does for you.

And they're kind of in "no vacancy" territory after the Dumoulin and Fabbri salary dump pickups. Hard to imagine them making any other swaps, other than your potential Gibson and Zegras deals (which, like Marner, I think would have happened already).

Are the Washington Capitals a legitimate playoff contender after the offseason additions?

Cup contender? No. But playoff contender, surely. They obviously wouldn't have made it again next season just by running it back – luck like that doesn't strike twice. But I do think they've done enough to stop the bleeding. Thompson is a considerable upgrade over what Kuemper gave you last year for cheaper, even if I think there's good bounce-back potential for Kuemper in LA. On the whole, goaltending should be similar to last year.

People talk about the Dubois pickup, but I think it's kinda moot when you consider they've added two bonafide top-four guys on the back end in Chychrun and Roy. Those are huge, especially the latter as one of the more underappreciated guys on the UFA market this summer.

That is suddenly a very strong defense to insulate a developing Sandin and an aging Carlson. Fehervary and TVR is a first-rate third-pairing.

Everyone staying healthy is a different question. But they're in a good spot to hover in the 90-point range again.
