6:30
Hello everyone! Welcome to the post deadline chat!
Hope your favorite team got your favorite player
6:31
I'll get started in a few minutes.

With the 23 man roster limit gone post trade deadline are the only reasons teams put an injured player on IR to stay under the cap limit or to save cap to use against bonuses etc?
Gavin Lee
6:40
Regular injured reserve does not change a player's cap hit, or take it off the books. Long-term injured reserve does have an effect, but is also more complicated than just "cap hit doesn't count" like many often say.
After the deadline, IR is also used for some insurance purposes
6:41
Remember though that while the 23 man limit is gone, there are only four regular recalls each team can complete after the deadline.
6:42
Emergency recalls do not count towards this, and to make one a corresponding player does not to be placed on injured reserve. If he is deemed healthy however, the call-up must be sent back down or changed to a regular recall

The Blues have been on a serious tear as of late. Still if we make the playoffs, would we see a 1a and 1b goalie situation. It’s never worked for us... can binnington steal some playoff games?
Gavin Lee
6:43
I think if they make the playoffs, Binnington is the starter.
He can certainly steal some games, based on how he has played.

Do you think Ottawa percolates to houston
Gavin Lee
6:43
I like this autocorrect.
No, not for a long time if at all.
The NHL fights to keep franchises
6:44
Still, the dispute between Melnyk and Ruddy is definitely bad for the franchise.
Lebreton would have likely been a huge success.
Joe
6:45
Do you think Calgary gets their arena finally
Gavin Lee
6:45
I think they eventually do, yes.
Still going to be a fight.

Does Michael Del Zotto stay in St.Louis after this season if he plays well down the stretch and the playoffs? (That is if he plays in a decent amount of games)
Gavin Lee
6:46
I'm sure it's a possibility, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Who knows though, if he lights it up.

What size and length do you think Jake Gardiner gets on his next contract? And what are the % chances he re-signs in Toronto? Thanks Gavin!
Gavin Lee
6:47
Chance he signs with Toronto? Has to be something like 10%.
6:48
He'd need to take a substantial cut to stay there, or they'd need to figure out how to get rid of Zaitsev's contract (if they even want to)
On the open market? 4 years, $25MM.
Something like that, I'd imagine.
Joe
6:49
Who is going to have the highest salary cap this summer
Gavin Lee
6:49
Which player who is signed? I'd imagine Panarin gets the top, since Stone is only getting $9.5MM
Oh, maybe Karlsson if he waits that long.
6:50
Forgot.

This offseason, what free agent signs with the coyotes.  I think they are a player or two away from being a solid playoff team....if healthy.
Gavin Lee
6:50
Agreed they're closer than it seems.
Put all of their injuries back in the lineup and they would be a handful.
6:51
Predicting free agents is crazy right now, but a player like Eberle or Nyquist makes a lot of sense to me.
Someone to add a little more scoring punch

How about that stone deal
Gavin Lee
6:51
That was something.
6:52
I do wonder how many people commenting on it have actually watched Brannstrom much.
