It was the little details again, some questionable play-calling and personnel packages. They need to clean that up and roll with what's working. I sometimes think they have too many personnel packages. Just go with your best players instead of subbing two and three guys out after every play.

The broadcast replay of the Bell run right before the half clearly showed 7 seconds left on the clock  when he was tackled to the ground and Tomlin called for a timeout...so why did the officials get it so wrong and only leave 3 seconds left? Shouldn't that sort of thing be able to be challenged and reviewed?

I was wondering the same thing. It must not be reviewable. Either way, the Steelers put themselves in that position by running the ball when the correct play calls were two passes.

Hi Ray,  With all the Bryant drama going on I just wondered why Justin Hunter can't get a helmut?  I understand he doesn't play special teams, but why not?  Seems like a speedy receiver guy could carve out a special teams role for himself.

He got a helmet two weeks in a row when they benched Eli Rogers. Hunter didn't produce very much. Just a catch or two.

Ray, what do you see as being the reason Bryant isn't getting the ball more?  Is it drops, isn't he getting open, rust perhaps somehow, what?

That's a mystery because he had such good chemistry with Ben in the past. I think teams are taking away the deep ball much more effectively than other recent seasons. They're forcing the Steelers to drive the length of the field and not daring them to go deep. You have t take what's there and the short and intermediate game isn't suited to Bryant. That's part of it. I think there are many other factors, too, including the things you mentioned.

This second twitter outburst by Martavis Bryant seems to confirm that both he and the Steelers lied about his request for a trade...I think this level of selfishness puts him in Legarrette Blount territory, so shouldn't the Steelers consider a trade? Or maybe he has no real trade value at this point?

What are you going to get for a player who is one strike away from being banished from the league on a permanent basis? A sixth-round pick? A seventh-round pick? I'd rather just sit him every week.

After the tweets from Martavis do you think the Steelers could get anything in trade for him. Twice suspended and not producing as well as being a distraction. I don’t see much value here.

He's a better blocker. He's a quick study. He's a better possession receiver. Bryant is the better big-play guy but you'd hardly know it this season. That's probably why JuJu is getting more snaps at this point.

I would not be surprised if he is. At the very least he should be fined. The guy is a menace who is going to hurt someone again.

Is it me or are the Steelers to predictable on short yardage. if Bell's in there he gets the ball and if Watson's in there he gets it. Why not mix Rosie in there along with some formation changes to get the D to move 8 men out of the box.

How about some play-action? The Bengals scored a TD yesterday on a play-action pass on fourth-and-1 from the 1. The Steelers don't do enough of that in my opinion.

Red zone struggles have continued since the KC playoff game (6field goals) and that disaterous goaline sequence against NE.  What gives? So much talent and we can't score in the red zone?  NE with less talent doesn't seem to have these issues.

Trying to work McDonald in more. They think he's the more dangerous. But he dropped a TD yesterday. You have to take advantage of your opportunities so I wouldn't be surprised if James or Grimble get another chance to show what they can do. It's not like these drops are a surprise to the Steelers. They know he has trouble hanging onto the ball.

Can't hurt. You could see how important it was to have a lead in the fourth Q yesterday. They were getting after the passer and creating turnovers. That's what it's all about.

I don't know. I was wondering the same thing when Dalton threw that once touchdown pass. If he's on the field he should be rushing in that situation.

Bryant has not been making the most of the chances presented to him, he failed to even locate that deep ball to him the 2nd half.. Do you expect Ben to come out and scald Bryant for his comments as he has done in the past?

If Bell is injured again in the playoffs, you guys in the media will be questioning the number of carries he received in the regular season. So why are you so dismissive of using Conner to close out the game now?

I'm not dismissive of it. It's an issue, but you have to stack wins and get yourself in the best possible position to get to a Super Bowl. You can't be worried about what ifs.
