Steve Adams

Sabathia seems quite likely. I need to stop pondering this and get back to other questions, haha.
Miguel Cabrera
4:00
how dare you not add me to that list
Steve Adams
4:00
Oh, yeah. This dude is pretty good too.
Al Avila
4:00
Ian Kinsler for Villar who says no first?
Steve Adams
4:00
Villar is controllable only for another three years and is coming off a terrible season. Tigers will want someone with more team control.
Eppler
4:01
Would Jahmai Jones be enough to get Cesar Hernandez?
Steve Adams
4:02
He'd definitely be a nice starting point/centerpiece, but I feel like the Phils would want more than just a one-for-one swap. Or, if they do go one-for-one, they'd take a more highly regarded prospect elsewhere.
Michael Fulmer
4:02
Do I finish out all my team control with the Tigers or another team?
Steve Adams
4:03
Probably on another team, just based on their general timeline. But I don't think he'll be moved this winter with elbow surgery dragging his value down.
James
4:03
Jones is too much for Hernandez
Steve Adams
4:04
Hernandez is a plus defender at second base with a .372 OBP over the past two seasons, above-average baserunning, the ability to hit for average and respectable, if not developing power. He's controlled cheaply for three more seasons.
Kimmy
4:04
Who gets traded first Votto, Abreu, or Stanton?
Steve Adams
4:05
Votto isn't getting traded at all. I'd guess Stanton before Abreu, who I don't necessarily see as a lock to be dealt at all.
Falvey
4:06
Are the Twins more likely to sign Lance Lynn, Alex Cobb, Tyler Chatwood or none of the above?
Steve Adams
4:07
I can see them on any of the three, but Lynn and Cobb will have higher price tags, so I guess I'd go Chatwood. Doesn't necessarily need to be one of those three but I do think they'll add some kind of starter either via FA or trade this offseason.
Dayton
4:07
Any chance my Royals keep Moose and Hosmer?
Steve Adams
4:07
Both? No. One or the other? I can see it.
Eppler
4:08
Should the breaking point in negotiations with Justin Upton be when he asks for 6 years?
Steve Adams
4:08
I wouldn't go six years on him but do think he can get five
Indians
4:08
should we ponder trading Andrew Miller this offseason?
Steve Adams
4:09
I don't see any real reason for them to do that. They're going to be trying to contend again next year.
Longly
4:09
Do you see the White Sox going out an trying to get a vet for cheap to help out the young kids.  Maybe a third baseman or DH?  Who could they grab.
Steve Adams
4:10
Sure but I think they'll add on the pitching side and not on the position-player side necessarily. Yolmer Sanchez had a decent season, and they'll probably rotate Avi and Delmonico between DH and the corner outfield, though it's possible Garcia is traded of course.
4:11
Huh
Twins hired Baseball America's John Manuel as a scout. He's been BA's editor for years.
Hugh
4:12
Couldnt the Orioles speed up the likely rebuild by trading Bundy Machado and Britton
Steve Adams
4:12
They could, but they won't. Angelos wants to try to win in 2018, and he signs the checks.
Trout
4:13
How can you say Harper is a HOF  He has hit over .300 twice, always strikes out more than he walks, never has had 200 hits or driven in over 100 rbis.   Has to be one of the most overrated players right now.
Steve Adams
4:14
Because he turned 25 yesterday and has almost 30 career WAR and an NL MVP Award under his belt. He's a career .285/.386/.515 hitter and has an OBP over .400 over the past three seasons. Can we stop pretending that batting average is a remotely accurate way of measuring a hitter's value? (And, even if you're going strictly by average, he's a .285 hitter, which is pretty damn good)
Tal
4:14
What teams aren't looking for starting pitching?
Steve Adams
4:15
Basically every team will be looking for it to some degree. Even the Nationals and Dodgers, who are stacked in the rotation, will look for additions this winter.
BA vs. Twins
4:16
Is a scout's job better than being a respected, insightful editor/contributor? Is it the big(ger) bucks that matter? Would you take a scout job? Thanks....
Steve Adams
4:17
Well, I'm not a trained scout so I wouldn't be offered a scout job, ha.

I think it depends on the person. Working for a team means crazy hours, less time with your family, etc. I doubt this is John's first offer to work for a club over the past decade, so maybe the Twins' new front office intrigues him or is doing something unique that he's excited about.
Jordan Zimmermann
4:17
How much of my contract would the Tigers have to eat to send me to my hometown Brewers
Steve Adams
4:18
Even if Zimmermann was paid down to something like a total of $15MM over the next three years, I don't really know why the Brewers would do it. He hasn't looked like an MLB starter for the past two years, and Milwaukee's going to aim to contend next year.
Oren
4:18
If the Jays sought to trade Kevin Pillar this offseason, what are some teams that could be interested?
Steve Adams
4:20
Giants, Mariners, Rangers, A's, Royals (maybe), possibly the Dodgers.... I don't think they will, but the glove would draw interest.
Mike
4:20
Kemp for Trumbo?
Steve Adams
4:20
The point of moving Kemp for the Braves would be to open a spot for a younger OF. Trumbo would immediately block that from happening. It'd be pointless for them
twins guy
4:20
Hildeberger to close next year?
