I was so disciplined and didn't get anything at NYFC (sorry Felix lol) but what did others get?
Felix Lu
2:07
That's OK, Reba, hope you still enjoyed the eye candy!
Ron Lim (not that artist)
2:07
Thanks @ChrisS, but almost all of the pick-ups have been me trading up. I haven't even spent that much this year.
JasonK
2:07
@morgan welcome. Thank Reba without whom I wouldn't have known as it was unannounced
Andy
2:07
#2 in your program...
Nick Dragotta
2:07
Unfortunately it's just faster. and easier to edit, etc. Sucks for collectors though. I get it I collect too.
Álvaro
2:07
@Felix @NickDragotta You are welcome!!
Francis Chervenak
2:07
Speaking on digital I remember Mitch Gerads talking smack about art collectors in a post.
Felix Lu
2:08
@Francis...can you share the post?
Lambo
2:08
@jason. Sorry stepped away. I don’t know a single comic art dealer who hasn’t done great during covid shutdown. The only people living covid shutdown more are dogs.

I figured the economy would hurt art prices but I guess the stock market (not the same as the economy) helped bolster things
Ron Lim (not that artist)
2:08
@Felix I applaud your efforts. It's clear from the podcasts that you're trying to grow the hobby.
Brian Lake
2:08
@Nick Dragotta @Felix - agreed
Malvin
2:08
the problem with the CAF sales figure is that I assume it just takes whatever is marked as sold by dealers, which includes trades
Andy
2:08
Okay - as long as we have Nick here, I will repeat something I say all the time to felix
Well, at least several times...
2:09
Nick - I think you should Warhol yourself and make big canvas paintings of individual panels
Felix Lu
2:10
@Andy...I'll let Nick answer, but for special projects, it really comes down to time...
Brian Lake
2:10
@Reba I missed quite a few but was lucky to grab the Venom 29 cover
Michael Perlman

@Francis The one from issue 2 is painted and collage. It has the Star-Faced Man. I will post it on Twitter after the issue drops.

Question for the room: If you get a commission from someone in pencils, do you usually get the inks over the pencils, or get a separate blueline piece inked so you have both?
Felix Lu
2:10
@Casey...that's how I would do it (with some exceptions)
Mike Cichy
2:10
Hi Felix,
Felix Lu
2:10
Hey Mike!
John Espinoza

I got to check out. @Felix I hope you and your daughter are adjusting well. @Nick_Dragotta It was nice of you to pop in and give us a sneak peek at your art. I look forward to your projects. I used to live in the Bay Area and I miss seeing you at shows and signings.
Reba
2:10
@felix super enjoyed seeing the art reveals for sure. Hobby can be fun even just as an observer!
Felix Lu
2:11
@Reba...that's great!
Francis Chervenak
2:11
@Michael good call. I think I actually got the idea from you based on your talk in the last chat
Andy
2:11
There are a number of EoW panels that would be striking as 3'x4' paintings
Felix Lu
2:11
@Andy...I agree!
Reba
2:11
@jason glad to hear you got PULP pages!
Nick Dragotta
2:11
I like that idea Andy!
Ron Lim (not that artist)
2:11
@Malvin The CAF figures definitely include trades. I've seen a lot of my pick ups in their reports, all of them trades.
Felix Lu
2:12
@Ron...GREAT point. With the vintage dealers, you have to take the sales figures with a grain of salt. So much is trade that is reported as sales. Also, discounted art is reported sold at full price. At least with me, what you see is what you get!
Chris S
2:12
@Francis ???
Andy
2:12
And they would not be a revisit or second in any way, as the page was digital
Dan T
2:12
@Felix - I'd def fall in to the new blood category and happy to be there.
Felix Lu
2:12
@Dan...great to hear and glad you joined this madness! Actually, congrats and condolences...
