@Francis...totally agree. I never had a problem with that.
Malvin
2:16
actually for one piece someone gave me a great idea, I'll pay the inker to first ink over blue lines and if I like it, pay again to ink the original.  Pay double but at least I am guranteed (as near as can be) to like what I get
Nick Dragotta
2:17
Me too Malvin.
Ron Lim (not that artist)
2:17
For my commissions that I've had bluelined, if I were to ever sell them I'd offer the inked pieces to the buyer. I owe it to the collector.
Morgan H
2:17
@Jason @Tim I also just put in for a pulp page. Hopefully not the same one as Tim 😂
Chris S
2:17
My only real gripe with digital is that some of it looks “overproduced”.
Nick Dragotta
2:18
Blueline/digital pencils really allow you to perfect a drawing though, especially if it's technical.
Álvaro
2:18
@NickDragotta I've been scrolling to read what I've missed... I suggest Deadpool for your Jacktobers. I'd like to commission you one someday, anyway! :)
Francis Chervenak
2:18
And If it is a different artist, just be aware. Way I see it, ink over blueline if its done by a different inker is like a discounted version of the original as long as the book is published.
Lambo
2:18
I got no beef with what Mitch gerads said. He has the right to do anything he wants to get the art printed and tell the story in time. We as collectors have the right to say that’s not OA and pay OA prices for it. The two are not exclusive of each other.
Felix Lu
2:18
Perfectly stated, Lambo.
Chris S
2:18
like Jiminez on Batman looks great but it’s like watching a movie with a ton of special effects..?
Felix Lu
2:19
@Chris...I know what you mean. It looks artificial.
Nick Dragotta
2:19
Nice Alvaro.
Francis Chervenak
2:19
Oh indeed @Lambo and I apologize if i misinterpreted. I could only just imagine he was being asked a bunch of times to create more originals
Tim D
2:19
The amount Mitch pieces are with how he puts the art together at times gets a pass from me. But he can do what he wants. :)
Andy
2:20
I have no issue with digital pencils and then inked. Those are every bit "real" pages to me
Felix Lu
2:20
@Andy...yup!
Michael Perlman
2:20
Anyone else have recent art purchased they want to share?
Andy
2:20
Cliff Chiang did Paper Girls like that
Francis Chervenak
2:20
I learned about Blue Line the hard way
Nick Dragotta
2:20
Pages are finished in the ink.
Felix Lu
2:20
Boom!
Francis Chervenak

Richard
2:21
Nick when are opening up your next list? I missed out last time :(
Álvaro
2:21
@Lambo You are right, it's up to the buyer.. Pepe Larraz has been doing well selling House of X proofs, for example. @NickDragotta You are welcome... again!
Malvin
2:21
@michael, sound like you are itching to share your own artwork :P go ahead
Morgan H
2:21
I went to a panel that Fiona Staples was on at the first con I went to... she said she’s privileged to be able to do art digitally as she makes enough from Saga to not need the supplemental income. I’d for a lot of big name artists that is accurate.
Felix Lu
2:22
@Morgan...absolutely. Fundamentally, book comes first, always. Original art sales is secondary concern. However, IMO, if an artist decides to go digital, for whatever reason, then they have forfeited the original art market. Doing 1/1 prints and presenting them as OA, is wanting their cake and eating it, too.
Malvin
2:22
I'll just post to CAF when I get a chance, I do have a pipeline, thanks to my long supply chain
Michael Perlman
2:22
@Nick - For Jacktober consider doing a Silver Surfer and Kirby Monsters.
Nick Dragotta
2:22
Sometime in 2021 for commissions, but there will be more OA storytelling from me this year.
headneophyte
2:23
I have no problem with blue lines. It's the artists process, I see them as only adding to the piece. They hint at/show the process of the artist. I personally like them.
Michael Perlman
2:23
@Malvin - I did in the chat above.

Harely B/W/R page by Dani

Andy

An asterisk to my comment - digital inked pages are "100% real" only if inked by the penciler
stefanomjr

Picked this up after seeing the Kickstarter to translate from the original French

@Stefano...beautiful page.
